Can't blame him really, Pardew probably thinks that a potential premier league player should be playing at a higher level than league 2. Hopefully nobody else comes sniffing over the next 9 days and we get him back by default.

Agreed. Playing in this atrocious division won't do him any good. I think the plan was always to loan him to a L1 or Championship club after us. May as well get used to the fact he aint coming back.

I'll raise you - Lavery?

Seems like that John Hawkins had it sussed about right, Tone. If youngsters like Boateng prove to be any good, what on earth is the point of them scuffing around in L2 all season. Tis the way of things.

We've offloaded a couple of contracted players and freed up wages.  It'd be nice to have Hiram back but not the end of the promotion campaign.

Still 9 days to go to sign the equivalent plus maybe a pacey striker, if all else fails.

Except Boateng was good, when fit, despite this Hawkins character insisting he'd be rubbish (wrong) or recalled swiftly if any good (wrong) just like Lavery was (wrong again).

You'd have to be *ahem* an unapologetic supporter of the guy to suggest that the point he was actually trying to make (that Boateng was going to be rubbish) has been proved right.

Whether Hiram was good or crap or indifferent we still have every reason to find a replacement, right Mike? Nothing less could be expected.

If you look at this from a Palace viewpoint what would they have wanted from his spell here? Regular football is the answer. For 2 reasons: 1) because he'll gain experience and get battle hardened; 2) because if he'splaying regularly then he must be doing well and #1 is doing fine.

Job done, so far.

Now he's back there they'd've had a look at him and if he's up to snuff he stays put. If not then he needs further development. More of the same down here? It certainly wouldn't do him any harm to be playing in a top of the table team facing pressure matches week after week as the season reaches the sharp end but if they think his mettle is fine then there's not much point and he'd need to be playing at a higher level amongst, on both sides, better players. there wouldn't be much point in him making up the numbers somewhere so a mid-table Div 1 outfit wouldn't be much cop and he probably wouldn't be sure of regular football at the top end which leaves them hoping for a struggling Div 1 team in the SE somewhere to show an interest and the only one of them there is is Colchester.

So the question is: is he better off here going for glory or there battling relegation?

I think he's best off here. Battling relegation and failing could haunt his entire career but getting a promotion under his belt could be the springboard to great things.

We like him and I get the impression that he likes us. I suspect the deal is done already and he'll be signed up for the maximum time period possible to factor in possible play-off games should we need them - whenever that might be. Failing that he'll sign at the end of the loan window to maximise the time he has to recover from the injury and for Palace to have a good look at what he can do just in case he stays put and goes nowhere.

In which case the question is: what do Palace have in midfield and are they short of numbers or well-staffed up?

Hiram is a good player for us but also a loanee.  It would be great to have him back but we shouldn't overlook the fact we also need a couple of permanent signings to replace the outgoing.  Just something to think about. Nine days to go.

Absolutely, Coxside. We badly need someone in his mould - I'd say it's the glaring hole in in our squad. Hopefully the replacement hill be Hiram himself, for the reasons SFD has stated. If not, we're going to need to find another young, talented reserve to loan, because I can't see Brent sanctioning a fee for anyone.

If there was any truth in signing Smith then surely a fee was involved? Del has cleared the deck perfectly for any incoming. We should be expecting...

Todays match cpfcU21s v Millwall: Perntreou, Wynter, Croll, Kelly, Binnom-Williams, R. Williams, Boateng, Dreher, Berkeley-Agyepong, Gayle, Chamakh

12: First chance for Palace as Boateng's cross into the box is volleyed over by Berkeley-Agyepong

53: GOAL! Palace equalise as Boateng's whips a dangerous free-kick into the box and Berkeley-Agyepong heads he ball into the top corner. 1-1

Suffers no info on a wealthy owner I'm afraid but I'm hearing some decent info about a signing or 2, won't gob off about it as I'm not sure if the source is kosher or not, I think it is but just not sure.
Not sure if that's worth a sulk or not really! but I'm a half full git anyway

You don't say. I never twigged that Laughing

The half full thing doesn't register with me. I drink from puddles under the full moon. It's either wet or dry, no inbetween.
