It seems common sense has prevailed. What benefit has training in newton abbot have on youth development i ask the club. Seems more like a scheme to help torquay out with rent than it has us |

| The most obvious benefit as far as Argyle are concerned would be the first team having exclusive use of the pitches at Harpers, therefore less wear and tear which helps to keep 'em in good condition. |

Used to train on yours as a kid as a member of the city youth. Exeter wins the who has the better training ground stakes |

And they cant find a field near plymouth as big as the area is? If anything the first team should move off harpers park as its not fit for purpose and seek a deal with marjons to stay there and use their facilities and leave harpers park to the youth teams. I dont see any real benefit other than to torquay for the youth teams to relocate to up there to use their training ground. |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]confirmed. the club even admit its mainly to benefit torquay hich in my opinion is a fecking stupid motive for moving your youth training up the road but hey ho. |

Torquay get money from this and i'm still wondering who is going to foot our bill for all the travel expenses of the teams going up there to train daily. |

May be they will ask the AFT. The club and JB are always keen to spend other people's money! _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! | Do they really think that 20 or 30 lads travelling 60 miles each day will improve their football. This is ridiculous. They can spin it as much as they want but 4 or 5 days a week on the A38 will take its toll.
The fact that Seale Hayne comes under the University of Plymouth's umbrella is pure coincidence of course.
And we all know who the Chair of Governors is.

Its a shit idea, how do they expect young lads to do all that travelling on school nights with Homework to do and so on? it wont make them better footballers thats for sure, its like that jollyboys trip to Ireland a complete waste of thrty grand! Argyle's youth set up has not produced a good player of league standard for years, its a Brent bean counting excercise thats all. |

Joe Mason was the last proven youth player of quality, that was five years ago at least. |

| Why not go the whole hog and rent a youth team training facility in Southampton?
Then any good players will already know the area when they move their new club. |

| Just read on the Farm (so it must be true) that Argyle under 16 had to cancel a friendly game against Topsham because Argyle could not raise a team? if thats true its Shocking and quite a sad state of affairs that a supposedly pro club cant raise the numbers for a youth team? The whole youth set up at Argyle needs improving or save the money and shut it down if its only going to be half arsed. |

| I think our academy is performing and run badly. Having talent is one thing but you have to get the hours in to realize that potential. The sad fact of the matter is that the unmentionables up the other end of the Devon expressway are the Devon club that are pulling out all the stops to develop young players. They train more hours than our lads. With some age groups getting twice as many hours. They train better than our lads I have no problem with Exeter raising their game, good luck to them. But we have to respond. I cannot see that spending an additional hour a day travelling is any use, we need more trainng not travelling. How depressing. |
