only 57 people have renewed their season tickets so far while they wait for a takeover to be completed. On top of big debts too and two big deadlines are looming its not looking rosey for the turks atm.

I know it irritates the hell out of them, but I don't know a single Argyle fan who has much of a dislike for them. Hope they sort themselves out soon.

This is a sad story, i think its the end of league football, possibly the end of Torquay United as we know it. Plainmoor will be a housing estate in probably less than ten years would be my guess.

"We only laugh at the Torquay"

It's a shame, they are a nice little club, with a well sorted ground, bit of a club house and a multi millionaire prepared to write down the debt to get away.

Trouble is there is some crunt in a suit trying to make money out of the re-structuring.

They need their support to step up and form a Trust to take control, it really ain't hard, City have had a stream of complete muppets doing it and we are still around.

They have lost millions achieving nothing, their season ticket prices are extortionate despite crowds having plummeted last season, with only another crap season in the Conference to look forward to they need to do something pro-active to engage the punters.

A great shame to see them struggle so badly.

They are a good traditional club who seem to be fading away to nothing with on the face of it little being done to step in and save, what is a club with two thousand or so die hard fans? I cant believe nobody in the bay is bothered?

Well the Bristows were bothered and seem to have blown the thick end of £6 million in getting them nowhere, they do have the West Country issues, miles from anywhere, expensive housing and next season four localish sides in the league above, all looking at the same pool of players. Clubs like Accy and the Dags have the same funding problems but have either a huge local pool of players or cheap housing to blunt the edge, I suspect their travelling next season will exceed yours, possibly being beaten only by Truro.

They desperately need a capable manager with in depth knowledge of the non league scene who will work for feck all, they are about as common as rocking horse shit.

Ma Bristow has some suit working for her to sort it out, you know full well that he will be a 'Ridsdale'.

Isnt it the old Oxford chairman who is running the club and planning to buy them? name escapes me but its not Kassam before someone mentions him.

Argyle Legends to play Torquay in fund-raising 'Devon derby' at Plainmoor

ARGYLE will play Torquay United in a Legends Game as part of a family fun day at Plainmoor on Sunday.

Funds raised from the event will be split between cash-strapped Torquay and a local childrens' charity.

The Argyle squad will include former Gulls' boss Kevin Hodges, now the Pilgrims' youth academy manager.

Paul Gibbs, who had spells at both Devon clubs, will also line up for the 'visitors'.
Torquay's squad is likely to include former Everton and Wales goalkeeper Neville Southall.

The gates at Plainmoor will open at 9.30am and there will be a walking football competition arranged by Argyle's Green Taverners at 10am.

At noon there will be a penalty shoot-out competition followed by a mascot race, with kick-off in the Legends game at 1.30pm.

The Argyle squad is: Paul Hider, Paul Edwards, Mark Saunders, Chris Harrison, Paul Gibbs, Kevin Nancekivell, Darren Garner, Steve Adams, Kevin Hodges, Danny O'Hagan, Joe Davey, John Uzzell, Mark Damerell, Damien Davey, Mark Rowe, Leigh Cooper.

Torquay are set to include players such as Tony Bedeau, Wayne Carlisle, Kevin Hill, Alex Russell and Wayne Thomas.

Two wins in four days help Torquay up to 18th and without the returning Luke Young who after Saturday game.

Quote

OUT AGAIN: Luke Young gashed his leg at Gateshead

MIDFIELDER LUKE Young is out with a gashed shin,  as Torquay United try to bolster their hopes of beating National League relegation at home to Chester FC at the Launa Windows Stadium tonight.

Player-manager Kevin Nicholson shocked no-one when he confirmed that Young, just back from eight months out following knee surgery, will miss this game after pretty gruesome pictures of the injury he sustained in Saturday's 2-1 win at Gateshead were circulated on social media by the club physio Gareth Law.

But the Gulls' boss did surprise anyone who saw the evidence – Young needed 15 stitches in the wound – when he reported: "It was a big gash obviously, but there is an outside chance he might be OK for Saturday (Tranmere Rovers at home), although more hopefully for next Tuesday (Altrincham at home)."

Nicholson revealed that Young had no idea of the damage when he was caught by an opponent as he went to clear the ball 20 minutes from time at Gateshead.

"There was no malice in the challenge, no rip in Luke's sock and there was no immediate blood – Luke felt some swelling and thought his shin was bruised, so he carried on," said Nicholson.

"It wasn't until he took his sock off in the dressing-room after the game that he realised what had happened.

"The nurse who sewed him up said at first that he might be out for five or six weeks, and I saw Luke's face drop – after all, he's only just back after eight months out.

"Those injuries can look quite spectacular, because the wound opens up with swelling, but an X-ray showed no internal damage, the wound looked neat once it was stitched up, and if it heals and recovers quickly, we're told Luke shouldn't be out for too long.
