| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Very low wage, even for that level. Especially for a team who's ambitions are to get back in the football league. Presumably Luke Young will be off in the Summer then.. Wonder if he'll be playing in a league above Argyle next year? |

| They should be in a far far superior position to most teams in the Conference. Totally debt free aswell, after their Chairwoman/Owner wrote off millions of pounds owed to her.
Looks like Hargreaves is feeling the pressure.

| £375 a week, and Hargreaves said you won't win anything on that (not even with sooper Luke) sounds like the same problem we are having. I wonder how many of our players are on similar wages? |

TBH, I wouldn't really call it a pittance. As you say, they are non-league after all. For me there should be a fookin big gap between League 2 and non-league. At that level of football, they should be thankful that they can get away with kicking a ball around for their 20 odd grand a year, and not have to go out and get a real job. |

| 20 players @ £375 pw = £7500 pw
£7500 x £52 = £390 000.
There's their the annual player budget. Or close to it.
How many people watch them now? 1000 per game? Paying an average of £10 each?
That's 1000 x £10 x 23 = £230 000
It's a wonder any team at that level doesn't immediately go bust. |

| Wasn't so long ago Conference players were mainly part time. Attendances of most conference teams are too small to make being full time viable. |

| Bit of a crazy league the Conference, Braintree who battered the Turks at Plainbore 5-1 a week ago lost at home to the bottom team Telford 2 nil while finances are a mare, they lost the thick end of 600k a year when they dropped down plus they have an awful lot of travelling, difficult to see how most of the teams at that level survive on crowds of 1500 or less without some seriously minted owner.
I suppose it would be a wet dream for most of us to have £15 million in the bank and to own our own club, the Turks should have been an ideal one, nice little ground, pretty steady baseline of support, well up until this season, you wouldn't have thought it would be beyond the wit of man to run the thing with a manageable level of losses.
The Bristows seem to have spunked their cash in the time honoured fashion of fools and their money while clubs like Accy survive comfortably on far less gate income by hanging on to league status and that £600k of League money, meanwhile sleeping giants like you Gargs and Pompey can struggle away for years despite having an apparent massive advantage in income. |
