| We have 65 pts from 43 games. It says we need either 72 (play-offs) (probably) in total. That's another 7 from the last 3 games.
Play-offs (2.3 pts/game)
3W 2W 1D
2 play-off spots to be grabbed by us, Exeter, Luton, Newport or Stevenage. We have a 3 point cushion and by far the best goal difference. Stevenage, 3 points in front of us, are pretty much nailed on.
Still squeaky bum time but still ours to lose and our next 2 games are against Tranmere (bottom) and Carlisle (4th from bottom) before Shrewsbury (2nd).
The 72 point target looks almost certainly to be too high; nobody will overtake us if we get 71 points. |

| 69 will almost certainly be enough, probably 68. |

| A win and a draw should do it, that gives us 69 which just happens to be my favourite number |

| Argyle now need two wins to be certain of finishing in 7th place on 71 points.
71 points is all that Luton and Newport can get.
Newport have the easier run in than Luton. Newport are the biggest threat on paper. |

| Not much point in continuing this but for the sake of seeing it through...
We have 65 pts from 44 games. It says we need either 72 (play-offs) (probably) in total. That's now both unachievable and unneccessary...
As of now we require 2 wins. Anything less could be overtaken.
I reckon a win v Tranmere will be enough. If we do then Luton need to beat Southend and Stevenage - which they might but I'd bet against them doing so if I had to. Newport play Oxford and York but our GD is currently 19 better and we have a 3 point lead. If we beat Tranmere they won't be able to overhaul us.
But if we don't beat Tranmere we'll probably need more than a point away at Shrewsbury in the last game...

| People talk as if the playoffs are everything, where as we would probally lose them anyway. |

Indeed. Given our record from being behind can you really see us beating Wycombe, Bury or Southend over two legs and then beating one of them again at Wembley. |

Argyle have not been involved in a situation like this for sometime now. Interest would be sky high should results go in favour of Argyle on Saturday. Whatever the thoughts and views are on the season so far, along performances too, should Argyle navigate themselves into the two Play-Off semi-finals and win them, then anything can happen once they got to Wembley. |

You're right of course. Trouble is, go to cupboard of belief and the jar is empty. It's impossible to cast aside the hopelessly inconsistent performances and hopelessly inconsistent results and then conjure up any hope. I can't see us getting any change out of Shrewsbury so we're relying on other teams to do us a favour to even get there. We then need to string together three consistent performances...with most of our loanees missing. Not gonna happen. |

Is that wrong? |

| We've had so many, it's easy to lose track. Just going on the assertions made at the time we got them.
TBH they're hardly making a massive difference to our indifferent form so their loss won't change the outcome. |

| For the sake of tieing up loose ends...
After Tranmere we had 68 pts from 45 games. It said that we probably needed 72 points in total.
The win v Tranmere, as it turned, was enough.
However against most expectations we went up to Shrewsbury and beat them 2-0 seeing us end the season on 71 points feeling both comfortable and optimistic.
On the final day Luton won, too, but not by enough to over-turn the GD and Newport lost anyway.
In the end 69 points would have been enough for 7th place.
