| What a poor excuse for a Liverpool team....when you look at that team on paper you realize that if they are in the top half of the Premiership.....then the Premiership is certainly not the strongest league in Europe. |

| There was a story floating around that Rodgers accepted the Argyle job when Sturrock was sacked but then turned it down when he was told that a condition of his tenure was that Mariner had to be his coach, rather than Rodgers being able to bring his own staff in. Don't know if it was true but it was certainly being bandied about at the time. |

Well if he can't get it right with £millions then he wouldn't have had a chance with Argyle peanuts.....so good job he didn't come. |

He did pretty well at Swansea though-joined them in the summer after he was sacked at Reading and got them promoted in his first season. Bet he wasn't sorry to have turned Argyle down in view of what's happened since. |

Yes, I've heard that too. I always suspected it to be a 'Pasoti fact' to be honest, but who knows? |

Looking at his Wikipedia, he was sacked at Reading in December 2010,which was around about the same time as Sturrock was moved upstairs, so it would have fitted time wise. Whatever I suppose, he didn't take the job, who knows what would have happened if he had. |

| That team was pretty awful. I'm not convinced anyone would have kept us up given the financial meltdown. As Czarcasm says, the fact that we are where we are is down to much more than who the manager was. |

| I'm not Liverpool hater or anything, but Rodgers has a way of talking complete nonsense that doesn't sit well with me. Losing Suarez was a blow, Sturridge being injured at the same time was a blow...not being able to sign a half decent defence or midfield with £100m+ is just poor. |

| I got into a heated chat on The Guardian with a guy who swore blind that Liverpool hadn't spent much money because the only figure that counts is net spend! Since when did that become a thing?! |

I'd say that'd a fair point - they aren't doing a Chelsea and spending their sugar daddy's money. As with Spurs, it shows that you can't replace a Ferrari with four Volvos. |

| I've just been told (thousands of miles away) that there are other issues that may see him leave the club sooner rather than later. |

| Talking with one of our company's directors yesterday who was in corporate at Anfield on Tuesday.
David Fairclough and Ian Callaghan were doing the meet and greet and had Rodgers as dead man walking. |

| I wonder what sort of game the pond life that inhabit Old Trafford will watch tomorrow. The worst-quality Man Yoo v Liverpool lineups in living memory. |
