This hunger argument really annoys me. There's absolutely no need for it. There's more than enough food to feed every Briton to bursting point. It's the distribution and the willingness (and of course Iggy's point above), of supermarkets and food producing companies to pull their finger out of their arses and contribute to the problem in a positive manner.
Thousands of tonnes of perfectly edible food is literally and needlessly thrown away each year.
Point in case: Where I work, they have a couple of articulated tippers a week picking up full trailers (44 tonnes) of freshly baked food products. Why? the crust is a bit over done, the gravy in these pies is missing a bit of salt! FFS, do you think a needy individual or family would give a flying feck about that if it meant feeding their clan? Absolute nonsense.
They would prefer to sell it to pig farmers to reclaim some of the wasted production costs. Years ago, we , the staff where allowed to take boxes of these waste products home, some for me mams freezer ans other family members etc. Then someone decided it made them ill, tried to sue the company and that was the end of that. Greedy and immoral wankers. From individuals to huge conglomerate food supermarkets, and unbelievably inept government.
Right, I'm off for an Egg McMuffin from Maccy D's for brekky.
