Is this the right place to announce that I drive a Nissan Micra? And that I find it very good? So good that it's actually my second Nissan Micra?

I used to have one, it was stolen and torched last June. I have now given up motoring.

Motoring is one of my favourite things.

I have been known to drive to Totnes from here just for a pint of milk.

I drive to Spain to go shopping on a regular basis.

Mind you, it is only 5 Kms away.

Does it still take ages to get off the rock? Spanish were searching every other car when I went - albeit about 10 years ago. Took at least an hour to get back into Spain.

Depends on the time of day and what mood the Spanish authorities are in.

Sometimes it can take 2 hours, sometimes you're straight through.

There's a side issue at the moment. The local Government employees in La Linea (the border town for those that don't know) haven't been paid since April (sounds familiar). The unions and protestors have staged demo's at the Border which closes it for a period of time.

There's an awful lot of sympathy for these poor guys and girls.

Causes all sorts of problems in Gib though. It doesn't take long for grid lock to snarl up the whole of Gib when the Border is closed.
