| Unlucky Chile. If only Engerlund had the same determination and passion.
Although exciting to watch - I don't think there was much between the two sides and I really think Brazil might find it hard going against tougher opposition. |

Colombia will beat them next game zyph! You might be right......just a little worrying how Colombia ran out of steam and looked a little vunerable near the end. Brazil did finish their match strongly as well......how fit will Neymar be by Friday ??? |

| The Dutch are deffo a big threat. They didn't really get out of 2nd gear today yet still would have won comfortably were it not for the superb Mexican keeper.
Mexico were good though, and I'm having fajitas now as we speak in their honour... |

| Not so long ago, Engerlund would of hammered teams like Algeria. Watching them tonight V the Germans, the table would be well and truly turned, imho. How shite is English footy at the moment?
Costa Rico, Algeria, Mexico, Columbia - all would piss over England now. Pitiful, just pitiful.
That is all. |

That is all. English football is in inevitable decline due to the selfish excesses and greed of the Premier league.Even before the inception of the PL,it wasn't brilliant [non qualification in 1974,1978,1994,losing to the USA in 1950] but at least a few semi finals and quarter finals were reached at other times and England could justifiably claim to be a top 10 team.Wouldn't surprise me at all if England are now on a similar downward path to Scotland's decline over the past few years unless the PL is curbed and attitudes are changed, including the attitudes of people like Wenger, who is eulogised as some sort of guru when in fact he has done eight tenths of feck all to move the English game forward. Can't see it happening though and a really crap England team will impact at all levels-in the past, the most beneficial events to enhance participation of all sorts at the lower and grass roots levels were the 1966 and 1990 world cups.A vicious circle indeed which will only be solved by decisive and courageous action at the top. As to this world cup, some very good and entertaining games, although i don't think there is a really outstanding team a la Spain in recent years,Brazil in the 1960's/70's or Germany in the 1970's/1980's etc, which i suppose makes the forthcoming quarter finals all the more interesting.Still think the winner will come from Brazil or the Argies though. |

| Argies=Messi Brazil=Neymar I think another team will work them out and stop them playing. Belgians could be the first team to win in SA from Europe. Before you all go and weigh large on it I think I always come last in Pepsis prediction league. |

| Belgium and Mpenza are quite interesting actually. The failure of the Belgium team that Mpenza was a part of when Belgium and Holland co-hosted the Euros in 2000 led to a root and branch review that went back to square one, grassroots, kids, community facilities and so on. Now 14 years on Belgium, despite being one of Europe's smaller countries, has Hazard, Lukaku, Kompany, De Bruyne, Courtois etc and are a good outside shout to be the first European team to win the World Cup in South America.
There's a lesson to be learned there somewhere if only I could figure out what it was.
