| Spent the weekend at the Dartmouth music festival, proper good event, saw this guy play the Windjammer with an acoustic set, real nice guy from Norf Landan had a good laugh with him after the gig but his voice is awesome as is his guitar. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| In Bere Ferrers at the Olde Plough last night to watch Echo Town, awesome two piece band one with a huge drum kit the other playing about four or five different guitars, a digeridoo, harmonica and both singing. Feckin great sound, bluesy a bit sea sick Steve with some good slide guitar, foot stomping goodness, really really big sound but the volume was spot on, properly hear them but not trying to outdo Hawkwind, check them out if you get the chance |

Blimey, bet that had them farting in their oxygen tents in good ol' down town BF! Think it caused quite a stir many moons ago when the Bricks played a gig down the Plough. |

| Yep I was told they will get complaints from the usual suspects but anybody who buys a house next to a pub and doesn't like a bit of noise once a month or so is an idiot. Talking of farts I went to the bar to get a round in and let something slip, quickly carried the drinks back to our group and looked back as a girl gave her fella a big slap and said "you dirty fecker go outside if you're going to do that" he replied it wasnt him, she said he'd been doing it all day and he can sleep downstairs if he keeps it up. Lmao. |

| Yes, I can imagine Paul MacDougall, Viva and ensemble upset a few old hicks as the Bricks. Not known for suffering boring fools. I attended Paul's wedding down at good old Elliot's place at St Germans. His wedding speech was a cracker, and rather blunt to say the least. |

| Was down the Tamar for Ska last Saturday , The Kingstons, pretty sure I saw the venerable Mr Knecht there but he was gone before I managed to go and have a chat. Good gig, pretty lively with the usual pissed up twats kicking off (of both genders), why do these people drink? Or put another way why don't they stay home? |

| Here's a heads up: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]A jolly good time is virtually guaranteed for all. Ignore their silly name; they are not at all proggy like it suggests they might be. I saw them last summer when they were 2nd on the bill to Jools Holland down at the Looe Fest and I'll be surprised if there's a better gig in Plymouth this year. If they don't end up hooooooooge there's no justice. |

They are all crawling out of the woodwork, Terry Halls Specials (appaza he's the only Special in it) is touring at the mo and a mate said he could get tickets, he got back to me and said "£45 a pop feck that!" I tend to agree with him. Where's Horace playing and is it likely to be £45? Appaza there's another version of the Specials touring as well I hope they don't double book it could get nasty. As for ska it's like anything if it's good I'll go, love live music of most genres apart from heavy thrash metal and drum and bass, both give me a feckin headache (don't tell Beeb.) |

| Shame I missed that Tankus recommendation - listened to some of their stuff, and they're pretty good. Bit Gogol Bordello, bit Sheela-na-gig, bit Top Shelf Jazz, even.
They probably won't be huge, but they have a good formula for success: take stuff underground bands have been doing for years, but front it with someone who you can stick on the cover of GQ.
As for best gig, Cancer Bats in January will take some beating for me. Even if it did make me miss the White Rabbit. :/ |
