| I must dust my wedge off and have a punt this year, I love betting on the national. I have a system, I hear all the tips, go through them and pick out the horses that are around the 16to 1 mark and back four of them each way with a fiver. I have won up to £170 and have only lost my bet a couple of times. The main thing is don't read the form guides, they just confuse you. I also have a system at the dog track, don't look at form, look at dogs, look for lethargy (doping), do they look fit? Are they keen? Have they eaten ten pounds of porridge before the race? Most races on the whole are sorted before they are run. |

That's pretty much what I do at Cheltenham.
My system goes like this:
1. Only back horses each way between 40-1 and 16-1. 2. Only 1 per race. 3. Choose the outsider of any ridden by SW-C, Ruby, AP or Geraghty within the above if there is one otherwise a jockey in green otherwise pick a name I like. 4. Get on every race. 5. In the event of a two horse race back the outsider.
Over the course of a meeting that has pretty much paid for itself as it went along for the last 4 years (not including this year which I missed altogether).
You don't get many winners but the ones you do get pay well enough to cover the others. |

| Grand National = Xmas Day for bookies.
Categorically the biggest lottery in the racing calendar.
Alright for a bit of fun, mind. |

| Here's a couple of promising e/w shouts:
Vesper Bell - It's got Katie Walsh (she was 3rd last year) on it, a woman will win the National one day and there's none better than her and it's a tasty 66/1 so even a place will pay well.
Walkon - Lots of Liverpool connections, has won at Aintree in the past and is 50/1.
Ladbrokes is paying on the first 5 places and giving the best odds from when the bet is placed so there's no need to take the odds. |

Alright for a bit of fun, mind. It can also put bookies out of business if a favourite comes romping home. |
