| Funny thing is, this thread just gives a voice to the man who's apparently a plastic chancer. Awesome-sauce.
Who cares how long you've supported the club? You could be 70 and decide to start going - it doesn't matter. We need fans now and new fans are welcome. That's about 5% of Webby's 'thing' in the 'Erald - what's wrong with that?
It's a free advert for a game sone might not realise is going to happen on Tuesday. We barely feature on Spotlight these days and it's rare we get a mention anywhere other than local media. Put it on Twitter, put it on Facebook.
I remember when we thumped them at home - full house, Marino scored a cracker. It was great to do that in front of a big crowd. Hopefully, we'll do that on Tuesday again. |

If only that were true, but new fans aren't welcome though, are they. It's a ghetto. They are expected to pay 50% more than the regulars. I don't know of another industry that tries to get away with such an unfriendly pricing policy. If anything most industries give their new potential customers a deal. And then on top of that geeks and superfans at the club start insulting these people with the "plastic fan" thing if they do turn up. |

He maybe out by a matter of pence but an adult season ticket works out at £15.86. 50% increase would be £23.79. Not far off for a POTD. |

| No I'm not out at all Dick. Hairy, you regular ST adults paid £299 for your season tickets on an early bird.... £13 a game. Cash POTD NEW fans pay £21 at the turnstile. That's not just a 50% increase on the ST price, it's actually 60% more !! Do you need ATD's resident mathematician Sir frank to do the maths for you ? Check your maths and hold back on the Hob Goblin. I don't need an apology, just understand why new fans are so hard to come by these days. |

| That's good maths. That's if a pay on the day attendee goes to every game. You're right but come on....
Brent gets the season ticket cash up-front. He has no idea who'll turn up as a pay on the day. You can't have a go at the club for that surely. New customers for a mini season ticket - 4 games for £40 would be an idea but to compare pay on the day with season tickets is odd. |

| Brent doesn't get the ST money up front. Most STs are paid for monthly. Your logic goes back to the old days, and in any event, early money doesn't equate to a 60% gross receipt difference. As for budgeting, are you really saying no business can survive without having some sort of contractural minimum monthly spend ? You're having a laugh. I say again, there is a different mentality at play in football. They aren't that bothered with new fans, they really aren't. It's only other fans that are want to see bigger crowds, but then they jealously guard their discounts. Just listen to the pre season annual moan if the regulars think casuals are stealing a march. Some people go to Tesco or the Co-op every day and buy all their food there. Some go there once a month or once year. And do you know what, apart from loyalty points that count for zilch, ALL customers pay the same money for the product. If you can't see the "up yours" to new fans, then there really isn't anything more to say. I hope Iggy doesn't think I'm over analysing again |

| It's different for an 'event' - I'm paying for an event. Parsnips are parsnips. Watch them flock if we're still near the play offs. Parsnips don't get a big crowd. If it's more tense, more important, tough shit - we gambled with ours. Moaning about prices is fair enough though. It is too expensive. It cost over £100 to watch Arsenal. |

I hope Iggy doesn't think I'm over analysing again I have some sympathy with the notion that 'new' or 'potential' regular supporters should be encouraged with discounts initially - indeed it's a good and proven marketing strategy. But a couple of points - firstly, I'm pretty sure the club would get the vast majority of season ticket payments upfront because all credit arrangements, by law, have to be conducted through authorised credit companies i.e Ticketus who charge the club a percentage on each monthly credit arrangement in return for paying the club the bulk upfront. Also supermarket and other FMCG company loyalty points often offer really significant discounts, particularly over the longer term - the companies, however, budget on the majority of consumers simply ignoring or not taking advantage of the offers available. Another good and provenly successful marketing strategy. |

I enjoy many of your ramblings and musing and we actually share an awful lot of points of view, I'm sure that we would have decent conversation over a pint or two and you have a much thicker skin than Tiddles! | Season tickets for everything work out cheaper - even theme parks do them. Why slate the club for doing normal things. Even Mars Bars are cheaper if you buy a multi-bag.
Very odd.
If you think it's too expensive, don't go. You don't have a right to go. I wanted to go and watch the latest Hobbit film but it's too expensive in my opinion. I didn't expect the cinema to just let me in. I'd also like to live in a detached house in Salcombe overlooking the sea but I'm not a millionaire. |

I have had "season tickets" for the Theatre Royal. They're not 50% cheaper. You started it Hairy by saying the club needed new fans. I'm just pointing out there are many reasons why new people just don't rock up in their thousands to an unfriendly ghetto on a whim and pay through the nose. It ain't going to happen. Yes, I do think it is too expensive, and so yes I don't go at present, although that is more to do with not liking Brent's admin agreement, and his plans for the park. As for living overlooking the Kingsbridge estuary, you don't have to own a mansion to do it, although you have to know Commander Mock Cuncher. There's plenty of ways of getting your desire. Go work for the National Trust for instance. Rent, and cut back elsewhere, maybe your Hob Goblin consumption. The main thing is you have to want it enough. Maybe you don't. |

| I 'started it'?
If you go once to the aquarium, you get in free for the whole year. You pay once. You can't go in for free.
I didn't read your post - it started to get boring. It also got personal and sinpey. |

| I take it you mean the Plymouth aquarium Hairy, one of numerous such "national" this and that family tourist attractions that are mostly built on start up grants, charge far too much and struggle once subsidised schools no longer visit. Even the Eden Project has sadly fallen foul of such over pricing and loss of grants. Hardly a valid generic example of a "season ticket" and you know it. I have had several season tickets for the Theatre Royal in the past and occasional customers do not pay 60% more, I can assure you. Typical ST holder comments and from the same old Dunford school of thought. Consistently lower and fairer prices means more fans. It's as simple as that. Token one match reductions don't cut the mustard... football is a habit that is easily lost, even for the 5 to 10 games a season casual POTD fan. We just don't all want to be a paid up superfan member. |
