I've stood on many an away terrace with some hardy souls and even at Wycombe last week recognised a fair few faces from the past. I don't recollect ever seeing Webby before he became the Trust leader. I have heard that said a good number of times but I have never heard a feasible explanation as to his history in regard to Argyle. Webb didn't even seem to know who Garry Nelson when he was mentioned by Drew in a recent commentary.
Drew: "I like Alessandra. He's a willing runner down the channels much like Garry Nelson once was."
I hate to stick up for the Pres. But as anyone who knows me will tell you I have an awful memory for football players, games and shorelines, I remember the big ones but that's all. I quite often ask my son about matches and he says "you were there as well!" I have a good memory for faces but I forget names although I am good at language generally. I still remember lee Makel although I wish that I could forget that one.
Webb: *silence* And me. I put mine down to partaking in far too many recreactionals in the 90's tho. |

| He's one of the reasons I avoid Home Park. His behaviour on this website was unacceptable. More juvenile nonsense that I don't even hear in a pub barring a few kiddy TCE sorts that I take the rise out of.
Apart from all the corny flag waving crap etc, I think the clue for this current fashion of rather uncool and self serving rhetoric comes from Brent's comments the other day, and I paraphrase ......" what I didn't understand about football before, was the tribal element. I like it and so do my family." What a thicko, and hence why Newell and Webb play up the football fan chariacture to please their sponsor. They're going to make darn sure the squire enjoys his bingo and beer while he's here. I'm just wondering if Brent is going through the teenage rampage he never had. It has all the tell tale signs.

| Cringeworthy, how can a true Argyle fan speak in such terms regarding Exeter City? It's almost like he's acting. I started following Argyle in the 90's and even I know who Garry Nelson is.
He's attempting to find fault with Exeter, but in effect just making himself look like an ignorant backward thinking dick... and giving Exeter City the credibility and attention they crave.
I think we're stuck with this knob as President for many many years if not decades, there's absolutely no way he will surrender such a title, it's the platform for everything he needs. "Look at me" - that toothy beardy face doesn't half need a slap. Plymouth Trash

| It's all a bit cringe-worthy and yet another demonstration of amateur hour. He's a bit of a sensitive soul is the Pres - I don't think I've every posted anything terribly derogatory about him - he's not on my radar at all - a bit of a non-entity in my view. However I heard tell not long ago that he had been asking about me and had guessed my identity - and his reason was that he thought I'd been saying horrid things about him. Strange boy. |

| Such a classless post, the position of President ought to maintain high standards of decorum, looks like it is lost on our simple Janner postie as he likes to call himself.
He likes to come across as a working class hero but the post is so village and thick, just where Brent and the jam boys wish to be. |

I have met banana bus / boc / the battle bus and north devon greens and none of them knew of webb before then. |

| Like Dick Trickle have been following Argyle mainly away but in my case for over 50 years and watched them at 123 different league grounds (I am not boasting just stating a fact) and I have never ever seen him at an away match or even at any meeting pub prior to a game. Perhaps he was just a home supporter and didn't like travelling. That doesn't make him a bad supporter but his piece in the Herald is not what you would expect from the president of our club. It' so amateurish and without any dignity. Larrieu or Wotton for president please. |

Webb: *silence* I believe that Iggy - you can't even remember how to use the quote function. I actually had it set up right but it hasn't been working properly, I clicked on the page tab so it went yellow behind the text and back again and now it works. I prefer the uncertainy of who said what personally, easier to deny a bad post that way. |

As a bananabus 'veteran' of many years, can I just say that most of the time on these trips we'd see the same old faces time and time again. even if we didn't know the names of people you'd be on nodding terms with most of the 'regulars'. Mind you, we were also pissed most of the time, so the memories not the best sometimes |

Sadly, that doesn't fit the thread or the narrative on here. |

| I am sure Webb has been a genuine fan for a long time. It was only when he could use PAFC as a vehicle for his own ambition that people started noticing him.
I am sure the reason that he doesn't know about Garry Nelson is that it was before his time. Nelson left in 1987. If I was being cynical I would also wonder if it is because he is in a state of denial about how crap we are now, and players like Nelson, Tynan, Mark Smith, Dalton, Castle, McCall, Friio etc remind him how crap our current "legends" (Darren Purse etc) are. |

| My first Argyle game was 4 years after Garry Nelson left yet I still knew who he is.
He was part of the Torquay management team in the 90's, so plenty of coverage referencing his Argyle connections. No excuse for not knowing who he is.
Having said that, I don't doubt Webb has been an Argyle fan for many years, he was just not the 23 home games a season sort, like most Argyle fans really. |
