| Sad news. A principled man who fought for common decency. RIP, you've earned it. |

| A man born into the nobility with a silver spoon in his mouth......BUT gave it all up for his principles and beliefs.....well respected.....although a little too far to the left to have received the ultimate job of PM. |

| A man not swayed by his privileged upbringing, his own party's leaders disdain at his seemingly rogue idiolgy and a man who stood up for what he believed in. As others have mentioned, for that, I think he's over due a bit of respect.
It's a pity there aren't more of his ilk in the corridors of Westminster instead of the silly hat wearing, totally detached from real life fat fuckwits we have now.

| Will the last man of principles please turn out the lights as he leaves or did you already do that Mr. Benn? RIP. |

| I'm sure there are thousands but this quote taken from The Herald struck me: "The hereditary system has long been discredited. No one would go for treatment to a man who claimed that his father was a very good dentist." |

| A man who never wavered from his principles and truly stood up for what he believed in - no matter how unpopular and unpalatable that was to others. RIP |

Nah, still sucking in air and likely to increase his already massive majority in May'15 at the age of 84. So Benn follows Crow quite closely, I wonder if the fact that the complete cnut who had taken over the mantle of Socialism was dead allowed him to go peacefully? |

I remember watching a newsnight edition when they had to break to news that the UK and the US started bombing Iraq under Blair. He walked off and went mental at the BBC for showing it live sas it 'wasn't a movie, it was real'. I'm not old enough to remember him in his hey day but he was a cool old Lefty geezer. Good chap. |

An incredibly bright guy who with Foot constituted the entire gamut of Labour politicians for whom I have ever had any time, totally unelectable simply because they always said what was actually on their minds, not really politicians at all, Socialist relics who were born too late to be relevant. I'd say Wedgie would be sorely missed by the "labour movement" if it had not spent the last thirty years trying to pretend he didn't exist.

| Unelectable? 1983. When someone says that Britain is not, and will never vote for a socialist manifesto, in 1983, 8.4 million people voted for "the longest suicide note in history". 200,000 less than voted Labour in 2010 and about 100,000 more than voted Conservative in 2001. |

Errrr, yeah, unelectable, there hasn't been an even remotely Socialist Government elected in this country since the early 1970's and some would suggest that Wilson was anything but a Socialist. 2001 is not a good example for anything, it personified the absolute zenith of disillusionment with the political process in this country, Blair the baby killer could not lose and the Tories were led by a glove puppet, I voted for Martin Bell but the Pig Pickles still got in. |

| I didn't think it would be a good example... almost predictably not a good example. It wasn't a bad example though. Not good enough for you though Tis. |

There is no subject of any real relevance in this world which you could come close to being able to debate with me, no, video games is not a relevant subject to any but the jerk offs who spend their time playing them, er, or the Suits who rake in billions from selling cack to the aforementioned wankers. Hey "video games", that's not the word video being used in a modern context is it? |

Hey "video games", that's not the word video being used in a modern context is it? I knew that you must be a pretty special person TIS and I could never work out where, I think that I've cracked it now, IN YOUR OWN MIND! Arrogant wanker. |

| He's a decent troll but recently, he's spreading himself far too thinly.
Tony Benn quote to get the thread back on track. “There is no moral difference between a Stealth bomber and a suicide bomber. They both kill innocent people for political reasons.” |

| Once Tony Benn was asked about the level of debate that Lord Tis had to offer. Tony Benn replied, "Lord Tis is a cnut, a spunk-trumpet, cretinous troll who can't tell the difference between his foul-mouthed rants and the shit that comes from his ass let alone the difference between abusive rants & debate. I just wish he would feck off back to the hole he crawled out of."
At least, I think that was Tony Benn who said that. I may be wrong. |
