I was in Thailand in '91. I shared a taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya with a guy in his sixties who was going to Pattaya to see his "nephew." the guy was a paedo and we saw him a couple of times walking about with said "nephew" who was about twelve. I saw Peter the paedo out on his own and took the opportunity to call him a horrible cnut, he just mumbled something about it being different out there. Whilst walking around town with my missus we saw another guy in his twenties, English, holding hands with another young lad under the table of a bar on the beach front. I made eye contact with him (well I gave him the evils as my wife said) and he drank up and left. We went to two different bars and bumped into the same bloke who had now met up with two of his mates and their "nephews". All of this happened in the main street that goes alongside the beach. This road had loads of bars full of girls, girls would approach me and the wife on the street offering their services. You also got approached by men offering you young boys. In four days this happened half a dozen times. As soon as you went off the main road by the beach there were the gay boy a go go bars. Not one of them but several, they had young boys some as young as ten or twelve covered in coconut oil, small pair of shorts, dancing on stages watched by European males. It was open, it happened and it wasn't just one isolated incident. Hopefully they have got rid of it but back then it happened.
I would agree fully with you about Thailand being a wonderful country with wonderful people, me and the missus weren't that taken with Pattaya though.

I need to apologise. Only on FB today there is an article by good friend of mine who will remain unnamed but prominent Business Guy with stacks of Boozers in Pattaya who has the heads up on British Police hunting for a gang of 12 Pedos that have slipped over from Cambodia.

You guys are aware his Convictions are under review with one already set aside and quashed ??  The other will go the same way it simply has to. I don't doubt you for one minute Iggy. I have been coming to Thailand for 8 years and living here permanently these past three but I have never encountered anything like you describe.
I have family in Pattaya and go there once a year and once is enough as like you I dislike the place.
If you ever think about coming to Thailand please try and visit Hua Hin it really is a nice place with great golf courses.
It has a night life without being in your face like Pattaya plus there are least 4 other Argyle supporters here.

I'm glad they have cracked down on the filth, I loved Thailand as I said earlier in the thread, sometimes it's a mistake to go back to places, the Costa Brava is a point in case, I traveled and worked there as a teenager then took the family back some years later to find it all built up and ruined.
