Didn't realise the whole south west was cut off with no motorway, airport or rail links. Plymouth and cornwall at a push. We cant have a bigger stand because the crowds aren't there we are told. yet when is the devon expressway busy enough to warrant 3 lanes in both directions. as often as argyle would need a 25,000 capacity I reckon. when is plimuff in need of an airport so badly? you fly to Stansted or Gatwick and you have to get from there to central London. no different to flying to Exeter and getting to plimuff. the rail network I have some sympathy with. and why are we spending millions in aid to India etc. who have plenty more millionaires and billionaires than us yet cannot sort out the somerset levels flood plain.

Looks like another attempt to make a name for himself tbh.

No doubt victory will be claimed for a re-route that was going to happen regardless of an internet petition.

I can see this bloke trying to become Labour parliamentary candidate one day, he's a whole lot more credible than LJ granted, and has certainly demonstrated the typical behaviours of a politician recently(!).

Is the difference between the A38 and the M5 really that great? It's the same stretch of road FFS, and it is three laned through the whole of the city. I can't say I have missed that extra lane driving through Newton Abbott.

As for campaigner - well he is employed as a union officer, and the only thing he campaigns for at Argyle is fecking James Brent's property portfolio. He didn't represent the fans on the Mayflower Grandstand issue, the abysmal shirt options, the fans bar, he has abandoned the AFT, and the Forza Verde project hasn't kicked on to anything like Crystal Palace levels - he has achieved the square root of feck all apart from giving a car parking space away.

I wonder if Mr Webb met local MPs and councillors before doing this. It seems a bit more based on publicity than trying to achieve results. Webb has no reputation in Westminster, and even with a few thousand signatures he is hardly going to make senior agencies rethink strategies on HS2, train links, aviation strategy etc. So what on earth is his game - is it just, 'look at me?'

The thing is with the HS2 scheme you may get to Euston 20 minutes earlier but you will still have to wait for a tube or a taxi once you get there.
