| There never was going to be a play-off push.
Last year 68 points was the target for 7th place; we have 35 points from 27 games; we would need 33 points from our last 19 games to get there.
8 wins, 9 draws, 2 defeats.
Or something like it.
Not impossible but very, very unlikely.
It would make much more sense for Sheridan to copy Sturrock's approach to his first season when he wrote off the last dozen or so games and experimented to set the foundations for the following season while tapping up scouting for the players he needs to fill the gaps that the current squad has. There's no harm in not signing players if he has the ones he wants lined up for later and panic buying never did anybody much good. It's much better to keep his powder dry than to waste it (just as long as he has some, that is).
I hope that's it anyway because the earlier big hints that we were due for some spectacular transfer activity in the window has amounted to Banton and a short-term contract left back. And they don't really cut the mustard. |

| I honestly don't think that we are that far off being a promotion-winning side. We have 2 good GKs, 4 good CBs, Hourihane and Blizzard seem to complement each other, Reid does a job and Alessandra buzzes about. Add Banton, Parsons, Purrington and Thomas and it isn't all bad. There's also Harvey, Young and Morgan and Lecointe when they come back. None of this is bad even if it isn't awesome
We need a full back on both sides, a right-winger and a Nalis-type midfielder and we're away.
We were rubbish and now we aren't even if we are still some way off setting the division alight.
We might even be worth a £1 bet next season. |

And they don't really cut the mustard. I think everyone knows there wasn't going to be one but that doesnt mean folk want the club to right off this season already and not at least try and aim for as higher place as possible and set up next season nicely. Would have had an positive impact on season sales thats for sure and got the fan base excited. Alas i fear even with all the above the board i doubt would have given Sheridan the funds to bring in the players needed. but hey ho we can bring in loan signings again in a few days so we can still find a striker |

| The transfer window isn't such a big deal for lower league clubs. The 'loan window' which opens in a week or so, and runs until the middle of March, is where we will probably be looking to do some business. Hopefully a striker & RB can be found then. |

| More back foot loans. The club had a bit of a run for the first time in 6 years, and that's when you have to ride your momentum |
