| John Marquis has been mentioned - not French, but a French surname. |

John Marquis of Millwall All the best to the Torquay United lads today, devastated to be missing the game through injury! Shouldn't be out for to long though! |

| If it is John Marquis, he's hardly a prolific scorer. What I've been told is that the bloke we're after is an experienced pro. Who knows? |

| We need a striker particularly after yesteray when it was obviously too much to expect Reid to actually RUN after the ball. |

Reid had a below par game on Saturday but he certainly hasn't been "woeful" for most of the season.Any striker coming in will be signed to complement Reid, not to replace him.Reid's game was lifted as much as anyone else's when Lavery was at the club, lets hope that the new man-if and when he comes in- will have the same effect. |

| If brent was at all interested in building a decent side,he would be looking at signing a striker on a two year contract who had a track record! but brent is not interested in the long term, just keeping the gratefuls happy with a short term fix. we've got years more of this crap sadly. |

| Sorry Greenskin, but I believe any striker that is signed, will not be signed to complement Reid, but will be signed because that's all Sheridan can get. A perfect fit will be way down the list. The team's results continue to fall off Freathy cliffs as expected, since the lucky strike Lavery returned to a club that can attract half a decent player. Why on earth would any decent striker in demand sign on permanently and come down here at this time ? Can anyone give me one reason ? All the old reasons have mostly faded away under Brent's property based club, to leave Argyle an also ran in L2. Quite extraordinary in my time. |

Brent has no ambition for argyle other than keeping the club in the football league, so no one any good will join the club, just the unwanted desperate or someone who likes to spend a lot of time on a coach! |

| I think you might have posted that on the wrong forum, Mr Sleeves. There's not many on here singing the praises of Argyle's present "strike" force. |

That's as may be but the point i was making was that any sort of striker signed won't be because of Reid's alleged bad performances as implicated by the post in question.I agree with you that whoever comes in is highly unlikely to be Sheridan's first choice-i would surmise that this has been the case since the manager took over,Argyle certainly don't seem able to attract players of the quality that other clubs in the division [who are operating on far less average gates] are signing almost on a daily basis. |

Might it have been something to do with the fact that Yeovil are currently operating two divisions above Argyle? |

When Reid had a genuine quality striker to work with, Reid was scoring, Lavery was scoring, and Argyle were winning games. As soon as Lavery goes back we go back to hoofing it to Reid and hoping something lands either for him or someone around him. But with Lavery gone, there is no-one around him to drag defenders, provide decoy runs, or genuine through runs. Reid gets the ball - opposition defenders get Reid. The Reid and Lavery partnership proves that Reid is better than the system he is currently being used in. Hopefully Morgan will be back soon and give Sheridan some options. |

Hopefully Morgan will be back soon and give Sheridan some options. I agree, except the last line. Morgan was pretty dreadful imo. His physicality was impressive I'll give him that but he was possibly the least comfortable in his control of a football than any other striker I've seen play for us. Reid hardly flourished next to him either- it was during his awful start to the season where he was getting dogs abuse from the crowd. Morgan drifted in and out of games too- on his day he was a fairly effective battering ram but that's about it. Maybe one to throw on off the bench for five or ten minutes as a Plan B but never in a million years someone who should be starting if we're looking to get out of this league. |
