I think its just a matter of 'when' not 'if' now. Which is absolutely superb. Footballs going down the pan & this is a much needed movement across the country

I agree. This has momentum and wide appeal. There is no rational argument against safe standing.

The argument against standing at matches is similar to the argument for closing off loads of tracks and roads "in case there's a rave", hooligans were a tiny minority of football fans, the big football disasters were just that, disasters which were also accidents waiting to happen because of inadequate crowd control, bad policing and bad stadium design all coming together to make Heysel and Hollsborough inevitable. Today lessons have been learned, we know why those disasters happened (including the police cover up at Hillborough) and they shouldn't happen again. At the end of the day any event where there are thousands of people at one place for a couple of hours has its risks, not least driving to the match and back, I wonder how many fans die a year traveling to matches?

If it did happen, we would not need a new stand, bring back standing in front of the Mayflower and strip and refurnish the stand.

Totally agree. But unfortunately br*nt has condemned us with his pile of shit minstand. As well as significantly reducing the capacity and boxing in the ground so that it can't be extended anytime in the future brent would also NEVER make the outlay needed to convert any part of the ground to safe standing. |

They'll probably incorporate it into the supporters bar, get more in that way.

I believe the standing was pretty safe at Plainmorgue Tuesday, plenty of room for the few that turned up.
