| Have to agree with Angry, it was crap and far too complicated. I kept having to explain to the kids things about the plot and I wasn't sure of it myself!
I have found the plot writers for Dr Who over the last few years just too clever for their own good. _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! | Too me it was a massive let down after all the hype and PR its had for months.
The program seemed rushed and with very little emphasis on anything and alot of nonsense too. To me it really should have been a 2part episode so the plot (if it had one) can be played out well and have a fitting conclusion like end of time was. There was more emphasis put on the zygons and their plot than the actual story arc itself the War Doctor and what he did etc. The war doctor was a let down as he seemed to be a wonderful life type of character where he is seeing what life would be like if he never exists which to me was a massive disappointment as i was expecting him to be a baddie and the two doctors uniting to stop him. When David Tennant was announced to come back i was expecting him to have a purpose for it not just as a sidekick to make jokes and there was little to no point for him imo.
Mouldy is quite right when he says the writers are too clever for their targeted audience lately. I think Steven moffat needs to remember the show is targeting families before the show gets cancelled as the show hasn't been that good lately. FWIW i really dont see Peter Capaldi being that popular as the doctor and will struggle to keep the kids hooked on the show so if the scripts aren't good the show hasnt got long left probably inside 2 years.
I did enjoy the tom baker cameo though and the ref to the new doctor. But overall it was a huge flop probably loved by diehards only. |

That's his mysterious powers. He does that to baddies on the programme sometimes. |

| The last time I watched much of Doctor Who was during David's tenancy ( ). I only watched the odd episode of Matt Smith. David Tennant was pretty good as the Doctor but I think that was down to the standard of the writing. It was taken to a whole new level and was worthy of accolade. Not only were the scripts superb but the Beeb had clearly put more money into it so that was even more convincing. I'd have Tennant as second best. My least favourite was Peter Davison. But my favourite Doctor was Tom Baker. |

| Queen Elizabeth I was rubbish - she looked like a till girl at Asda. They could have splashed the cash and got Scarlet Johanson in a bodice for that. I was well disappointed not to see Slyvester McCoy with his brolly. He's a Hollywood star now though. |

Three plots in one deserved more time. Overall, I liked it though. At the end of the day, it's just a science fantasy TV programme. I enjoy watching it. It's on again tonight on BBC3 so I'll watch it again. Who are the target audience? |

| The Doctors in order of preference for me are... The 4th Doctor - Played by: Tom Baker (1974-1981) The 3rd Doctor - Jon Pertwee (1970-1974) The 10th Doctor - Played by: David Tennant (2005-2010) The 9th Doctor - Played by: Christopher Eccleston (2005) The 5th Doctor - Played by: Peter Davison (1982-1984) The 8th Doctor - Played by: Paul McGann (1996) The 11th Doctor - Played by: Matt Smith The 6th Doctor - Played by: Colin Baker (1984-1986) The 2nd Doctor - Played by: Patrick Troughton (1966-1969) The 1st Doctor - Played by: William Hartnell (1963-1966) The 7th Doctor - Played by: Sylvester McCoy (1987-1996) Patrick Troughton and William Hartnell are low down on my list because I was too young to see them 1st time round and when I did watch them it scared the shit out of me! Sylvester McCoy was just utter shit! My favourite Doctor Companions are Sarah Jane Smith, Leela, Peri Brown, Rose Tyler and Amy Pond. Who could forget Amy dressed as a WPC and Peri's .........! Spin offs I liked are The Sarah Jane Adventures (Kids programme on CBBC) and Torchwood if only it was without that tw@t Captain Jack (I detest John Barrowman). _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! Who are the target audience? the target auidence is families with young kids mainly although the appeal is broad across all ages but the BBC aims for that audience mainly. The episode was simply awful i felt, I much preferred doctor who when Russell T Davies was in charge as he at least knew story structure where as steven moffat has turned it into a clusterfuck. My fave doctor is McGann its a shame they never did a series with him only a lacklustre film but he was great in the audio plays i have listen too in the past. |

| I watched a bit. Purely out of curiosity because I'm not, or never have been a Dr.Who fan. When David Tennant came on I turned it off because he reminded me of Virgin Media. Their service where I live is shite. |

| I grew up with dr who and loved it and had nightmares at the same time. I find that now, somethings feel too complicated, but is that an adult (?) brain at work rather than a childs? What has annoyed me is the lack of 'before gap' stuff. Mr Eccelstone was great at being the first 'after gap' Dr for me, but I didn't care for Rose. The Ten(ant) and Smith Drs were ok but I ended up liking Donna more then until the camping up got too far River Song. Clara annoys me, why, I can't explain. My hubby enjoyed the 50th alot. Perhaps I'm a dweeb, but I still have unaswered questions. Fwiw, T Baker + P Davidson were 'my Drs'....and 'Earthshock' my favorite episode, death to Adric!! |

| Hated all the pre hype but hated stupid, cretinous, lowest common denominator after show party even more. All that whooping and asking a fat bloke and some dweebs what they thought. No-one got to mention 18 year gap after BBC got rid of the programme - and the Bonny Langford mutant thank God. So, I really enjoyed the 32nd year celebration episode but not the peripheral bollox. Mind you, show too short for 3 story threads and a bit too busy. |
