| Cook needs to step up and lead and Pietersen needs to put up or shutup.
BIG questions need to be asked and answered when this tour is over because we seem to be going backwards rapidly and its not all down to how well Australia have emerged since their decline in recent years. |

| People were forecasting a 5 - 0 whitewash, may be correct, just the wrong country. |

| This series has whitewash written all over it. Hard to believe which team was in form and which was in free fall before this test, |

| The Barmy Army will be demanding their money back....if we don't start trying to compete soon. |

| Shame Broady's luck ran out so quickly, be nice if Prior could stick around until lunch with a bit of support, we desperately need to get a bit of Mo with the 3rd test coming up in less than a week. |

| Not staying up for this one, gotta be a case of get up early and watch I recks.
Don't think we're as bad as we've played and I don't think they're anywhere as good as we've made them look.
Still, momentum is a funny thing in sport. It might only take one knock or spell to swing it in cricket, but it feels a long way off at the moment. |

| Weather forecast for Perth for the next 3 days - 36,37,38 degrees, not ideal for us pommies. |

| its an improvement but smith and haddin are proving to be stubborn arseholes at the crease. I am sure once one goes it wont be long before Engand are at the crease. Hopefully not to long into day 2 |

| Let 'em off the hook again.Smith just reaches his ton, need to get rid of him and Johnson PDQ or more serious trouble could be in store.I'm a Bresnan fan generally speaking, very handy cricketer, but not sure why he was picked in this game-if ever a wicket didn't suit him,it would be Perth.Reasonable bat but England needed to really turn the screw and i'm afraid Brezzy wasn't up to it.More muddled thinking from the management, come what may serious questions will need to asked about the preparation, decison making and attitude so far displayed on this disastrous tour. |

| Well i suppose we've still got a chance of not losing it at least. From 143/5 though it has to be classed as a missed opportunity. |

| England actually put together a decent day I think last night, skittling the tail for 60 odd then ending up on 180; it could have been a really good day had Cook/Pietersen not played two awful shots. Unsure on Carberry, seems to have major issues in leaving the ball.
180-4 isn't horrendous, unforch the lower/order tail have been awful for a while now so it's down to Bell again really. |

| I can't see us winning this one now, we let their tail wag too much, probably a draw at best which will leave us 2 down with 2 to play. A tough ask but stranger things have happened. |

| Big rebuilding job for England now,the Ashes are gone even if by some miracle Englannd get a draw in this match.Cook,Flower and Gooch must be sacked from their respective positions after the tour ends and huge question marks must be placed about the long term futures of Pietersen,Prior,Swann and Anderson, all mere shadows of the players they once were.England's cricket has been negatively unimaginative for a couple of years now,the writing on the wall was apparent when scraping a lucky 0-0 against New Zealand last winter and in the Ashes series which could have turned out very differently if things hadn't gone England's way in a couple of matches.Where the talent comes from to replace outgoing personnel is the big question of course but with a different mindset and some new blood England can definitely regain the Ashes in 2015,Australia aren't really that brilliant a team.Eckersley,Moeen Ali,Overton [if fit] would be names to be considered for the future to supplement people like Broad,Root,Stokes and a rejuvenated Cook, whose big scoring would be of far more value to England than his captaincy. |
