That was painful to watch, but Argyle showed small signs of decent footie and deserved to win this game on a cold afternoon at HP.

Good timing to score the winner too.

Northampton Town were dire.......

That was a scrappy game played in a horrible swirling wind that made a good game impossible. Northampton had the wind in the first half and dominated both possession and territory but rarely threatened. The only time they did Nelson (?) won an important header which thundered against the post. Had he not won the header a player behind him would have had a tap in so it was a crucial, if slightly dodgy, interception.

The Northampton goalie made a brilliant save from a rasping shot by Rekord. Alessandra turned and shot but his effort was also well saved. Reid, who worked hard throughout, blazed over the bar and Alessandra found the goalie's midriff when well placed. It could easily have been 4-1 at half time and scrappy though it was we made the best and more chances.

More scrappy stuff in the second half. Some decent, if speculative, shooting from Argyle well saved by their goalie with Argyle now enjoying dominance in terms of possession and territory. Eventually we worked a great move through the middle, the ball was played through to Alessandra who picked his spot and slotted home, across the goalie, with aplomb.

Be as cynical as you like but we threatened to score more in this game than we have all season and it was a well deserved 3 points. Reid and Alessandra were the pick offensively, Trotman was great at the back and Luke looked like scoring every time he booted the ball in the second half.

The only thing worth grumbling about today was the wind but I speak only as someone who was there and not as someone able to discern the real picture from secondary sources and I humbly defer to their greater wisdom.

I still stand by that. Every last word of it. Why shouldn't I?

But today... We deserved to win. What's wrong with saying so?

lose at lincoln next week and its back to square one, when argyle have the players to start stuffing these bottom of the table rubbish sides, i might start to believe! i still think were crap, but i'll be very happy to be proved wrong. each journey starts with a single step, which is probably why xthrobber is taking so long to get from crawley to homepark! jimmy must be lonely in the trenches on his own.

If you don't know, your addiction far outweighs your intelligence.

It's crap and it's going to stay crap.

Enjoy the ride, if you can't help yourself.

My 'distance' from the club has given me a completely different perspective, over the years.

Others, still in range, have disappeared to the golf course but there will always be those who can't move on, even when they are astute enough to realise the situation is hopeless.

What a bunch of utter cnuts - would you rather the team lost and 6,000 fans who've paid £20ish each went home unhappy? What a bunch of toss pots. What a bunch.

Hairy, this is a football forum where we like to think all opinions are equal. Some are happy, some are unhappy and some are somewhere in between. If you don't like it then you know where the exit is.

Even I could see we deserved to win and I was listening on the radio.

Of course all opinions are worth listening to but some are more equal than others. Me? I'd rather listen to someone who was there than some tit who wants to maintain an internet persona.

Thanks Sir Frank.

Just to confirm I was there too and guess what, we deserved to win.

We were the better side and played some good stuff. The outrage about six defenders really was irrelevant. Berry and Reckord spent most of the game as wingers. We played with three centre backs as it's a formation which has improved us and especially our defence. Nelson in midfield allowed Hourihane, Young, Boco, Alessandra and the wing backs to play higher up the field. Negative on paper but not in reality. It worked. We were better than they were and got our reward- simple as. The defence ever since going to 3-5-2 has been solid as a rock. Good to get an open play goal but still massive improvements needed in converting our chances.

That's the rub isn't it.     Absentees who report an opinion on the basis of a radio commentary or more to the point a preconceived idea of what might be.     Ok, Argyle aren't great.     They haven't been great for some time.     It's probably true they won't be great again for a while yet.    However, some matches they deserve to win.     I know, shocking concept isn't it.

I have not seen one single side that is great in this league so far this season.     Includes those currently at the top and at the bottom and in the middle.    It is a poor league.    It's always been a poor league.    It's not a reason not to be happy with a win though and it has nothing to do with terminal tintedness or avivaness or happy clappyness or even Brent loviness.     There are some people who need to get an alternative life if all they have to do is pour scorn on everything just for the hell of it even if it's total bollox on the day.     If it's that bad and can't possibly get better in their eyes then why bother to post anything at all?    Just give it up and find something more interesting.     Simples really.

Grateful for the win, but another completely unacceptable 'performance' somehow yeilding 3 points is no reason for celebration. Accept of course if the height of your ambition is not being ejected from the Football League by April.
