Just sounding out the general feeling to a consortium of local businessmen taking over from James mid development with the general fan base. The consortium comprising 3 Plymouth based businessmen, 1 from Torquay and 2 from further afield would be looking to taking on the club for£1 but also taking on club debt currently circa £5m after an extension of payment date has been confirmed. Obviously as a potential investor or should I say debt underwriter I am curious to the level of support from the fan base to such a proposition.

Need to understand level of support for such a move. Expensive in it's self to undertake an offer and subsequently before an approach can be made the group wish to get a clear understanding of fan support.

Jack. James would still develop the site as proposed, it would just be the football club that we got involved in.

Depends whether they're football people, or not. Preferably very wealthy but if not, passionate about the football club and with a sound understanding of the club's history/ potential and what it takes to be competitive, the next time we get on a roll. In the right hands, it will happen again but brent's blunder of a clusterfuck, makes it even more difficult. Oh........ and no superfans please.

So he still develops the stadium and then walks away leaving you lot with the club debt ? sounds good to me although without knowing who is involved in your consortium it's always going to be a bit of a gamble, will you be in a position to invest in the team ? anyway i think you can safely say that most people on this side of the fence can't wait to see the back of him, as for the mob on the other side, probably not so clearcut but you'd need to ask them..................that won't be as straightforward as asking on ATD though, they don't like searching questions on PASOTI. |

Good point.Without wishing to stir any ATD V PASOTI controversy,it has to be said that the latter is still the biggest Argyle forum,no matter what people may think of it in terms of its content and management.Presumably the OP will be taking soundings to gauge potential support or otherwise on PASOTI and other sites? Not to mention informing local press and media outlets to ensure as wide a possible distibution for discussion of the issue. As for a potential takeover,a lot of information would be needed before a judgement could be made on the terms and conditions laid down by any prospective buyer.Over to you OP.whoever you are. |

It would depend entirely on who these people actually are. Also as Tring had touched on, how much wedge they're willing to lose invest, and what their true aspirations are for the club in the short to medium term. Also can you clarify what precisely you mean by the bit in bold Ta.

Have applied to Pasoti but still awaiting account activation. To answer a previous question, 2 of the Plymouth based members attend Argyle and the Torquay member watches Torquay regularly. The other 2 as far as I am aware do not regularly attend football matches.

I have no comment to make on this until, as Greenskin & hairy suggest, Cuckoo deposits his egg in pasoti's nest as well as this small & insignificant site.

I will not pretend that in the long term 3 of the group are looking at it as an investment. The markets are not looking promising mid term and subsequently they understand the potential of buying a football club cheap and if league level improves, making a healthy profit. The debt situation is of concern and an extension of debt repayment will be required.

It would be impossible to state if money would be available for team strengthening. Current budgets are not known and as such we have no idea if they are suitable.

Czarcasm-The debt exists and has to be repaid. The amount of time over which it can be repaid can be re negotiated though.
