Look at John Terry, probably been one of the best performing defenders this season?

Moyes inherited a side of Champions and if given enough time, will turn them into bottom 3.

He has already told Vidic to leave in the summer - one of their 3 remaining world class players. Absolutely barmy.

What does Moyes supposedly need time to do? These players have played together and conquered for years, Moyes can't teach Evra, Vidic, Carrick, Young, Rooney or Van Persie how to win games, win leagues and win cups. Because they all have, and Moyes hasn't.

Imagine in your workplace having a weak boss you don't really rate, or even get on with much, who is trying to impose his ideas on you - when you know your ideas, and your old approach was better. You had dominated with this old approach on all manner of levels for years, but under the new one the performance was struggling.

Now why are you going to bust a gut for this guy when you don't have faith in him? When he wants to change everything and replace it with such shite ideas, personnel and measures.

Times this by 11 and you have the source of your problem at Old Trafford.

MOYES. ISN'T. GOODENOUGH.

Not so sure about that, looks like his legs have gone to me, he was left trailing in the wake of several players yesterday, most notably Richardson, and could've done better positionaly to prevent Fulham's second goal. That being said, older central defenders are capable of managing perfectly well without pace and instead relying on experience and guile but Vidic's better days are definitely behind him so i can understand Moyes not fighting to keep him after this season...........the problem arises when trying to replace such a player with a younger version.

I will have to take your word on that, MOTD2 didn't record in my house due to the storms so I haven't seen it.

However I saw Per Mertesacker's performance at Anfield, and whilst the whole Arsenal team got overran, his pace was brutally exposed by the nimble footwork of Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho. They absolutely shredded the poor bloke. You simply can't be without pace and stamina in the modern Premier League, or if teams are going to have those players, they need protecting.

If Vidic has lost his pace then he needs a bit of help from those around him. Rio is declining at the same time, and Manchester United have very poor defensive screening compared to the days of Keane, Butt and even Scholes - who could deliver hammer tackles (but isn't often remembered for it). Carrick can stand a player up fine, but never gets stuck in, Kagawa and Januszaj have the physical presence of a feather, and Mata was so defensively inept Mourinho wouldn't even consider him for the starting team. Darren Fletcher, plagued by injuries, and with little actual technical ability, is probably the best of a bad bunch, in the face of the poor form of Fellaini since his switch. Either that, or an out of position Phil Jones, who is tied up trying to replace Ferdinand and Vidic himself in the CB slots.

It's all a bit of a mess at Old Trafford - the lack of a general in midfield sums up why they are there for the taking at the moment.

With regards to Vidic, I have seen little from Jonny Evans, Jones and Chris Smalling to suggest the retiring of Ferdinand and Vidic is going to be seamless. The decision might come back to haunt Moyes as those three are not title winning CBs.

This thread was started as a wind-up aimed at ATD's very own United plastic, Dane. If you don't like it you don't have to read it.  Very Happy

I cannot feel sorry for a team that has spent in the region of £60 million on two midfield players......

How clueless can you get?

First Vidic is "world class", nearly coughed me tea up to that, and now knocking poor old Per because the Arse went out and played liked fooking City in the first round of the cup. Speedy fooking Gonzalez would have been exposed for pace in that Arse defence.

Monreal and Sagna were the problem, neither tucked in at all despite there being no midfield cover, anyone ascribing blame to Mertesacker is a complete fool.

To be called a complete fool by you, is an honour that ranks beside receiving an OBE.

He's looking proper old, holding back the tears.
Spoiler:

Personally, I find it utterly hilarious to see what's happening at Old Trafford. I once went into The Mermaid in Eggbuckland after an Argyle game and had my shirt on - it was the horrible Tangergreen one. The local hard nut told me not to wear it in their again as it was a Utd pub. In Eggbuckland, in Plymouth.
Most Man Utd fans have no concept of losing this often. Finishing 3rd is usually DISASTER so this must be like finding out your wife used to be called Dereck before he had the op.

Probably why the Mermaid has since closed down. Awful barn of a place.

If you were in Eggbuckland the Prince Maurice's choice of beers is superb. And there's an open fire and reasonable food. And there are Argyle supporters that go there (and have the mickey taken).

The Prince Maurice is one of the smallest pubs I've ever been in. They have wobbly tables too and that's really annoying.

Eggbuckland is like a zombie movie without zombies.

That is as nauseous as when someone handed me the words to 'To Be a Pilgrim' going into the ground a few years ago.

I expected there to be an organist playing over the tannoy. Where do people get these awful ideas?

Sad twats who think they can tell thousands what to say and do and think it will be a successs. We had it recently as you know with the flag, FV1886, handing out sheets of approved songs as you mentioned, having a conductor stand in front of the fans and his back to the game telling the fans what to sing and lets not forget the banging a drum to drown out those who want to rebel...

it never works fans will sing and do what they feel when inspired too by the football on the pitch.

btw dane why are utd fans singing songs about ronaldo still? he isnt going back there anytime soon especially now so i find it strange!!

To be fair if it stops them singing sectarian stuff, or about hillsborough and scousers in general it gets my vote. We dont really have a similar problem. That Pete Boyle does get on my tits tho as does anyone trying to be someone at a football club.
