Secondly, Southend didn't wipe the floor with us. They had one single shot on target and it went in. If we'd come back having lost 3, 4 or 5-0, that would have been a "floor wiping".
Read the comments from those who went on pasoti. It makes pretty grim reading. With this current squad we are again among the worst 3 or 4 teams in this appalling division. But I suppose the team being shite is all part of brent's plan. |

| Fair enough Freathy but it isn't disaster. If we'd won 1-0, would you have deemed it the greatest victory in our history? Perspective. Sounds cliched but'give'it 10 games. |

| If I remember rightly Bates was never too bothered about who he upset. I think it was him who called the Chelsea fans scum at once point! _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! | Yes he did. I'm fairly sure even someone 'respected' would get the chimps howling like they've had their bananas stolen if they took over the club, didn't drop the ticket prices to £1 and ensured we won every game 9-0. It's ridiculous. |

The agony and village mentality will continue until even the dimmest of Avivas tire of the total ineptitude and personal positioning so clearly prevailing at Gnome Park. I think your ascerbic summing up of where Brent's ownership is taking PAFC is about right Tring, at no point after last season has Brent uttered any words that he is setting the club up to gain promotion in fact he has said several times that he was'nt putting Sheridan under pressure to aim for promotion. In fact it's only in the last two days that Sheridan himself has come out with any thoughts of intent to go up. We all know on this forum as fans and with a footballing head that if Brent was serious, he would have stated his desire clearly to get out of league 2 this season. Of course we could all be reactive after such a shite performance yesterday, but right now the chances of another long season as opposed to an enjoyable promotion trip is more likely. Happy days. |

Brent and his jamboys would of course, trot out the 'sustainable club' mantra. That's all well and good if the club is owned by the supporters and content to be lower league but to inspire more through the gate, the club simply has to show ambition, starting with a well finished stadium. Once the club has the right manager[as with Luggy mk1] the results will see increased interest and attendance figures. If the 2nd tier is reached again, promoting the potential of the club, seeking out outside investment or selling the club to someone with the cash backed ambition is essential................ as was pointed out by some of us last time round. |

| Brent said he was going for the play offs last season and you lot LOLed. He doesn't this time and you lot come out with the same response. I don't particularly like Brent's vision for the club, I really don't but the pompous rhetoric is wearing.
The OP is bonkers. What would Ken Bates bring to the table? Very little. It would take a week before the usual malcontents pile on and denounce him... it isn't going to happen anyway, it was a tiny rumour in the Herald - you know, that paper that you've all declared as a propaganda tool for evil Brent. Hypocrisy.
It's also strange that the biggest critics don't attend and have given up on the club - why spend hours upon hours on something you no longer 'care' about. |

| There's always the hope that one day, the club will be run by people with passion, vision and class. When/if that day comes, I personally will be back. This club has been a predictable nightmare scenario for the best part of a decade, thanks to outclassed , then greedy directors and the emergence of the self promoting, dimwitted farm politburo. These devious clowns now assist a property developer in making himself even more rich at the expense of club they purport to love. |

There's clearly something in it for those in brents inner circle, which explains their behaviour. However, those on the outside who support brent are extremely gullable or just plain thick. |

Anyone who does not post what you approve off is "Bonkers" according to you, ken bates would bring money ambition a refusal to accept faliure, all the things that brent and his hangers on wont bring! though it upsets you i will continue to call crap, crap until it changes, then i will probably go to matches again. still a fan but not of brents shell of a club. |

| Ken Bates is 81 years old. Hence bonkers. I disagree with you as your entire argument is based upon the hypothesis that an 81 year old man with no connection to us at all would splash the cash on a League 2 football club. Is that not bonkers? |

No one believes Brent because he has not backed up his statements of "this club should be back in the championship" because he employed a rookie (cheap) manager and has surrounded himself with a whole bunch of dimwitted self obsessed individuals which nearly got us out of the football league and excuse me where is the promotion chasing investment? We didn't believe Brent re his 'ambitions' for PAFC last season and we believe him even less now. |

| It's another Newell thread then. Dull. Newell bangs on about being INVOLVED but how true is that? Does that fit the "I've been banned from a forum" mantra? Perfetik.
Newell and Webb didn't almost relegate us. It was the momentum of losing, admin, pain and a very bad situation. |

| Why Bates??
Seriously why? He's just like Ridsdale-more clubs than Tiger Woods, yet never missed when he moves on.
you seriously want a guy who's just left a Championship Club because they wouldn't pay for a private jet to fly him from Monaco to the home games?
Have a look at last week's Observor for details on the financial web of intrigue he span at Leeds Utd.
What's really needed is half a dozen local businessmen joining forces to buy out the disliked Owner/Chairman.
If one of them's an Accountant and the have the backing of an MP so much the better-can't fail can it? |

| Why?
Why do people keep on confusing the problem with the solution?
How could anybody genuinely ever hope for Bates to take control of their club?
We need to rid ourselves of the speculative, venture capitalist, property developer types and end the spiral of greed that has infected the club not tighten that spiral even further. |

| We could do with a few seasons of someone like the Russian at Bournemouth. At least if he got us to the PL and we managed to remain for more than a season, or even yoyo for a decade or so, the fanbase would then mirror that of many other clubs of comparable catchment areas. That is why Norwich and Southampton will always bounce back with 20k+ fanbases in the lower leagues and why Swansea and Hull among others will follow a similar path.
Sustainability is all well and good once top flight exposure has been achieved but it will never lift a club out of oblivion into the top flight where fanbases are cemented. All we hear now is, 'We're looking to be a sustainable Championship club', which is pure folly. Neither Plymouth or any other similar sized city has or will come out in numbers for championship football, until they've got the PL t shirt.
It must be a westcountry thing to believe otherwise. Just because you and your mates are addicted, doesn't mean anyone else will be interested until the Champions League clubs start coming to HP.
ps A fit for purpose grandstand with function rooms etc would be a real help both financially and could inspire new blood, or even the 8-10k missing from 10 years ago but I can't see PCC 'doing a Swansea'. They have clearly at last seen through the asset stripping, pension pot filler and won't throw any more cash at the club while he's still there. |

SFD only seems ever to highlight the clubs where the rich investor/sugar daddy model has failed. There are plenty of examples of where the fortunes of clubs have been totally turned around by such entities-Madjeski at Reading, Whelan at Wigan, the bloke at Brentford, the other one at Brighton, Landsdowne at Bristol City etc etc.If a similar type were to turn up a Home park tomorrow ,then personally I would bite his hand off and feck the fans trust concept or the nonsensical "living within our means" bullshit, which would only be tenable if Argyle were in South West peninsula 3 and Mrs Mopp did a half time draw every week. |
