| Sad that they're struggling to raise enough money for a Michael Foot memorial in Plymouth. It's being discussed on Pasoti so Nikkkkkkkk must be a Tory boy or he would've jumped in by now and paid for it, sponsored by FES of course. Peter Jones makes a comeback on the thread and on the mobile version of Pasoti it still shows how many posts they've made, interestingly Peter Jones has made 1079 thus far which is a surprise as Postey claimed he asked for the account to be deleted back when he posted as iddesleigh green where he slagged players off, slagged fans off and advised they toddle off and buy united shirts. Just shows what a bunch of lying cnuts they are. Oh and I'm also surprised that Webb hasn't stuck his oar in, and Jameson come to that, and hailed Michael Foot as an inspirational figure in their lives blah, blah, blah, when neither of them were fit to lace the great Michael Foots shoes. | HERE HERE!
I can't believe there is no monument to a statesman the magnitude of Michael Foot in the city. Still just about sums Plymouth up I suppose. The place is clearly overrun with vile tory capitalist filth, including those posing as 'Labour' councillors and politicians. And I wouldn't expect any such memorial at Home Park as long as the tory banker and his entourage from hell are in charge. This Country NEEDS a socialist revolution! NOW! |

| Agreed Freathy and all the new tories can rot with their old Tory mates. The council can find money for constant stupid rebranding of Plymouth (what's next? Plymouth where the sky meets the land?) and shit like those little metal badges stuck to the railings on Mutley plain, they cost thousands apparently and the did them in the same year that they shut down the public toilets near Damerells to save money. That was always a good ruse, shut down the public toilets and then fine people £80 to piss in the road. |

| Michael Foot was probably the greatest orator I've heard, a man who honestly devoted his life to political change and the interests of Plymouth. I'ts no surprise that money is not easily forthcoming for a fitting tribute to him given the kind of self obsessed materialistic 'society' that we now endure. Most are more interested how the great saviour James will do up the Pavillions or build them great leisure facillities that they are in all probability can never afford to use. Enjoy G.B. com everyone. |

| Can't fault him as an Argyle supporter, but wasn't he the founder of the campaign for nuclear disarmament and an alleged KGB agent? |

| I always thought Clement Freud always came across as a bigger Argyle supporter (and promoter).
I certainly never liked Michael Foots politics.
He seemed an honest type though. And certainly worthy of a statue in Plymouth. |

A joke against Thatcher and alleged KGB agent by a Russian Defector whose other outings of Russian spies were all correct. Thankfully he was never PM

The first "allegation" about founding CND should be enough in itself to get him a statue if statues rock your boat. As for the second "allegation" - precisely that with no evidence. |

| And as leader of the opposition what secrets did he have to give? Other than Argyle's line-up for the Devon Derby. |

| He also deserves a statue for being a style icon. |

| There are very good reasons why the CND has withered on the vine. But that's a whole different argument. |

| Michael Foot is the only person I've seen in real life who featured quite prominently in an episode of the classic and excellent World at War series - the episode is either 'Alone' or 'Home Fires'. There's an interview with him mainly about press censorship measures at the outbreak of the war and some footage from early in the war of him making a speech. |

| Met him a couple of times at football, Reading at elm park being one. I never agreed with his politics but found him a very charming and interesting person who seemed to have a lot of time for fellow Argyle fans. _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! | Surely PJ should stump up the cash. Wasn't it due to MF that he became involved in PAFC? Or at least used his name to become involved. |
