| Marketisation. Blurring the boundaries between academic, professional and vocational education. Making students into customers. Welcome to the neoliberal world of 'education'.
(Spoke from the heart, that was.) |

| A lot of foundation degrees give you the option of adding a third year to top it up to a full BA, in which case the price isn't so bad. Ti's pricey if that option isn't there though. |

sorry pony but your are very much mistaken if you think that price isnt too bad, FD are not f/t degrees 2/3 days max a week which is why after completion students are offered a 3rd year to top up the fd into a full degree. Too Charge nearly £8grand a year is absolutely disgusting. I wont be surprised if this course bombs |

| Since 2012 colleges can charge anything from £5000 - £9000 for Degree's.
Obviously this is seen as a money maker rather than a school to help younglings and others get a FD in football coaching which will lead to loads of job offers im sure! |

You can just imagine how many local league superstar wannabe Beckhams actually think a degree in football is well worth saddling yourself with huge student debts, when it becomes obvious that being leading goalscorer for Bovey Tracey isn't going to be catching the eye of the Chelsea chief scout. A wasted 3 years and the only job it might help get is a Butlins redcoat. |

full time in hours but not full time in days. ie you werent at college monday to friday more 2/3 days in that week and had half terms off. which is why they are not full degrees meaning if you want to have a full degree you do the final year f/t in days n hours at a uni. I did a foundation too i know what im talking about. |

I did a foundation too i know what im talking about. There was no real difference in terms of hours on campus between the first 2 and the final year. |

| This was flagged up months ago. If Argyle as a club are involved in this and make money out of it, it seems a good idea. The cost of it, rightly or wrongly, is the going rate. |

i disagree with you and offered evidence that its NOT the going rate. the course will bomb imho for pretty much the same reasons i gave also what jobs will you get with that degree? honestly? not alot more than the average joe applying to work weekends at tesco. |

| Sorry, I meant that's what Argyle & the other institutions are asking.
My objections to all this crap is to do with the direction that education has taken not about Argyle's involvement in it.
Personally, I have little objection to degrees not leading directly to jobs. They always have been about contributing to a more educated population. All of this utilitarian nonsense gets me cheesed off. That's one reason why I am not in favour of the increasing development of vocational education.

| I think each college or whatever they call them now can charge anything up to nearly £10k or in that region and I guess some places will charge as much as possible.
Argyle would surely make something out of it wouldn't they?
Every little helps. My gripe is the actual course, opens about as many doors as psychology, and the fact that students have to pay for it all themselves now. |

You can just sense the simmering pent-up anger just below the surface, waiting for anything approaching an 'off-hand' reply from Pony Ride. (it never came though) You've been far too 'Reasonably Sensible of Mayfair' lately. Get back to what you do best. |

FD are uni degree's but lite so they wont be as much and shouldn't be charged as much, i think the club charging that much is all about profit not about providing a service which is wouldnt bother me as i wont ever take a degree there in football coaching but is the club going to see any of this profit? probably not is the answer i guess. |

I did a foundation too i know what im talking about. Sorry, but I'm not completely clear what you are saying. Are you suggesting that 'proper' degrees mean you are in the uni every day and without half-terms? If that's the case, degrees have never been that nor should be. |

| You're referring to the concept of 'reading' for a degree, though, Knecht.
Sadly, that's not how it works nowadays. Very sadly. |
