I feel a quadratic equation coming on. Must be Jamesy's posh education

| Ah Mouldy, with equations, it's all about the workings out and foreplay, not just the end result. |

| I have today received a reply from the Council Leader who has confirmed that as of todays date no proposals have been formally submitted to Planning from Akkeron and also re-stating the commitment to protect Central Park as Plymouth's Green Lung.
Peace in our time |

Are there any firm figures on how much of Plymouth's Green Lung will have to be given up by PCC inorder to accommodate the tallest structure in the Akkeron HHP development - the hotel? Last I heard it was somewhere between 8,000 and 12,000 square feet. |

Peace in our time I liked this bit in the e-mail I received from Mr Evans {full e-mail is on this thread) They are also strongly advising Akkeron to undertake as much public consultation as possible before any planning application is made, as this will help Akkeron to understand public concerns and have a chance to address them before the planning application is formally submitted |

| I will be amazed if work starts in September like they were hoping, if Napolean had managed to exercise the whip effectively then maybe, but that whole exercise has backfired massively thanks to the efforts of the would be news buriers. Brent has now stared a media campaign to sway people with talk of jobs. All the people wondering what we could do about Brent and Akkeron have the answer right there, keep up the good work. |

Seeing it's nearly the end of May and the planning application isn't in yet, I think it's safe to say work won't be starting in September. As for job creation, I'd love to see an independent analysis of (a) how many jobs there will be, (b) how many of them will be proper, full time, well paid jobs, as opposed to short term, zero hours, low paid, Macjobs, and (c) how many of them will simply be displaced from elsewhere. If the existing staff at the ice rink don't get transferred to the new one, there should be outrage. And given continued austerity and so on, I really can't see the new cinema, shops etc not having an impact on those elsewhere (like closing them down). #neoliberalbullshitnowinits34thyear |

#neoliberalbullshitnowinits34thyear Having worked in a cinema, I can tell you that a 10 screen cinema, will probably have anywhere between 10-16 full time staff (with around 4 there at any 1 time) (managers, security, maintenance, supervisors etc). But the vast majority will be 'macjobs' zero hours contracts with most staff not on full time hours, but around 15-20 hours a week. probably students. |

And it goes without saying really that the full time jobs that a cinema does create, tends to go to people who already work in a cinema because its cheaper and easier to bring them through the ranks rather than give the job to a non cinema worker. |

| Herald article reporting new Tory leader says they won't stand in way of development.
Hopefully the council officials looking at planning and highways will be able to do their job without political influence being brought. |

| The Labour Council are keeping quiet; the one reply I received via my Councillor was from Mr Evan.
I E-Mail The Councillor I informed her I was asking for her personal views of the propose development at HHP, hre answer was she did not realise that.
I am still waiting on her reply with her views. She is Councillor Pauline Murphy
My other local Councillors are David Haydon and Brian Vincent where I have not received any reply
I will write a letter in the Herald asking the same question and will they reply to the question.

| Brian Vincent should have a view as he is now head of environmental services
And as for the Tory leader (or should I say porno Ted) he has no credibility what so ever within this city. He was also head of planning for years (make of that what you will) and when the NAAFI building was demolished in favour of the hideous student block now in place. I also recall him hurrying off from the public consultation when he couldn't answer the questions being put to him |
