| The club stoops to a new low, compounded by Brent preaching the teachings of forgiveness. |

| Having given it some thought and discussed it with friends have decided it would not be a good move. |

| All I care about is 90 minutes. It's an emotive criminal history that Luke has but being a footballer is a job and his record has nothing to do with his job. You don't need an enhanced CRB to be a footballer. He's a young man and he's made a terrible mistake. Millions of people have got out of bed after a skinful and driven a car. It happens every single day in every single part of the country.
Using this to beat a football club and to extend your argument that the whole place is corrupt is exploitative. |

| Not at all hairybloke. I'm on record as saying that he made a mistake that could well have happened to many of us, self included. However, I feel that the club/fans don't need another potentially emotive/divisive situation. If he's that good, I'm sure he'll be offerred better money somewhere else. |

| What I still don't understand about this is he's just been released by Oxford as not good enough, so why is he good enough for us? Are Oxford United way above us in terms of ability?
He spent years in prison and I don't care how many days he spent in the gym and in his cell catching a ball like Steve McQueen, he aint going to be a CCC level keeper anymore so lets move on.
He would be barracked wherever we play and who's to say that one comment or chant from the crowd wouldn't unsettle him?
If he were world class before it might be worth the risk but I just can't see this benefiting us really so let's move on. Argyle seem to have an obsession with former players for some reason. |

Yes. He played for Oxford. I didn't agree with the 'super Luke' chants when we played them coming from the Devonport. That was for football reasons though. What struck me was the lack of booing. I don't tthink it would be as divisive as some are suggesting. It's a perfect moral crusade to embark on though for some. |

| "Yes, he played for Oxford".
So what is okay by oxford is good for us?
He should never ever ever, play for Argyle again!
He messed up when he was with us - It can be argued somebody owes him a second chance ...
Argyle don't!
Argyle would be stupid to open that can of worms!

| Oxford are a football club just like we are. There isn't any difference for me. I respect your view and I can understand why someone might object.
It was the lack of a crowd reaction. Other than at Exeter City, Home Park would have been a cauldron of hate if the issue was that emotive - nothing happened though. I don't believe it's as divisive an issue as some are suggesting.
I don't think he's owed a second chance but we're in the market for players; he's available and we'd be foolish to not look into it.
There are exceptions to players coming back (Mickey Evans) and he might be one of those. |

There wasn't much thought behind that chant Freathy - it was a bit strange but it seemed almost organic. For me, the lack of abuse he received was surprising - there was literally no negative reaction to him. Edgar Davids got a boo for being famous. This hasn't got anything to do with James Brent really. I'm not condoning what he did but he went to prison, pleaded guilty, was remorseful and he's a human being. He's a footballer and we need those. |

| Not sure about this speculation.
If Argyle ''DID'' sign him, would they want the unwanted publicity surrounding LM,as there ''MAY'' be plenty,i assume.
What he did was totally wrong and he not only ruined his career in the process, but that of a loving family also.
I think it would be best if LM went in to non-league football, rather than pro-league football. That way he could try and rebuild his life and his football from a distance.
There are better 'keepers out there that JS will have in mind..

Was there when he signed at oxford, passed me by if there was. I have changed my original post to ''may'',rather than there. The Mother of the victims was on the tv and radio when the Oxford/LM story broke,as it was regarding the Swindon Town story also. I don't think she was too chuffed tbh,and who can blame her. Her life was destroyed and will remain that way for sometime to come. I am sure LM has had ample time to reflect on his wrong doings while in Prison, and on release too. The sad events of that tragedy will remain in his mind till the day he dies,i'd prefer Argyle to go after a different class of 'keeper, rather than LM..
