And the buckets will still be rattling, to pay him back for his generosity. Meanwhile, his pension fund will be overflowing. Thanks Pasoti. |

| You ungrateful feckers, if it hadn't been for Harry Potter you might have been aspiring to get into the Conference South now, or worse.
Somebody needed to step up and take it on, for all his faults Brent is better than some of the chancers running some really big clubs, like Charlton and Leeds for instance.
The only other party interested was that clump Heany, do you really think he would have done a better job? |

| The only difference between Heaney and Brent was PCC backing. Nobody else stood a chance so we'll never know who might've been interested. |

Beg to differ, Brent had Nool and the "dogs of war". |

The only other party interested was that clump Heany, do you really think he would have done a better job? The usage of "better" implies the pre-supposition that Brent has done a good job since he has been here. That is far from certain. We have no inkling as to how the club's debt situation has altered - if it has. We know that the ground is exactly the same as it was. We know the club has lost land adjacent to the stadium. We are no nearer getting a new grandstand than we have ever been. The club's relationship with PCC is at an all-time low. We have been neither promoted nor relegated but until this season their as been little to get genuinely excited about on the pitch and we have endured the two worst finishing league positions in the club's entire history alongside a couple of cup humiliations at the hands of non-league powerhouses Stourbridge and Dorchester. In fact looking at the wider picture there's been next to no tangible progress to be seen. I'm not sure that "better" was the best word to use because we could hardly have done much worse than we have. And if that seems unfair then who in their right mind could possibly be excited by the last 3 years at the club? Even getting promoted this season, which I am confident we will, is just a correction back towards the natural order of things because teams like Argyle, Pompey, Luton, Bristol Rovers and maybe even Oxford or Carlisle shouldn't view promotion from this division so much as a huge success but more abject failure should it not happen. Argyle has been very, very good for James Brent but I struggle to see how Brent has been anything other than mediocre for Argyle. |

Beg to differ, Brent had Nool and the "dogs of war". Nonsense. The deal was always going to be a Brent/Council thing, given other considerations at the time. Heaney was just an instrument to string it out for a few months instigated by Ridders etc, so that everyone got a cut. Nool etc were just played, as they still are being played, for a pastie or two. The breakfast set up was just so corny. And why finish a job early when you can string it out for months on end on excellent pay. Did Ridsdale ever sell that hall he had up[ for sale at the time ? |
