| At this particular juncture I think I'd probably take Porkstain's legal threats to ATD more seriously. |

| I was reading about him this week, or rather about N. Korea and how the US are putting pressure on China not to trade with them because of the recent nuclear tests. China are seriously considering breaking trade ties with them because they think N. Korea are too full on commie About half of their exports are counterfeit goods like currency and cigarettes and old K J U is a feckin throwback who is up for anything. He is worse than his old man and much more likely to start a major conflict than his dad was. The counterfeit notes they produce are top, top quality and millions and millions of pounds of them flood the economy all over the world and a couple of banks have been forced to close down because they were obviously laundering the money for N.Korea. One bank in Macau had laundered something like $30 or $40 million which was then filtered back to Korea who could then use the currencies it was converted to for trade with China. Without the fake electronics and cigarettes as well as the currency, Korea would be in a catastrophic state with famine and poverty running rife, which is what the U.S. want so that they can bargain with them to lose their nuclear weapons in return for aid. Kim Jong Un is also a cnut because he has got himself a "cool" shaved at the sides hairdo, when he has just produced a list of approved hairdo's for everyone else and they are not allowed his style. | A fella I work with has not long come back from N. Korea. He's a bit of of a plane spotter and gets a bit of a hard-on flying around in old Soviet-stock aircraft. (Each to their own innit) He's been detained a few times in Russia and questioned countless times. Anyway, this is about his 3rd or 4th trip to N.Korea, and he has attracted the attention of their secret police equivalent. Any trips to N. Korea are only possible on specialist packages, and while you're there you can only go on escorted tours. You're dissuaded from trying to leave your hotel other than to go on escorted tours, though it isn't actually technically illegal. The last time he was there the hotel food was so bad (basically just variations of boiled rice and not much else) he decided he was going to leave the hotel to try and find something remotely edible. On leaving the hotel he was followed literally everywhere he went. He's a bit nuts. |

| As nutjobby as Kim Jong Un is, he knows that he doesn't have the capabilities of winning any sort of war, and the government isn't half as ideological as it is made out to be. It's all about control, fear and manipulation. The NKorean govt is more fearful of it's own people as it is of the Saaf. |

| A read a few years ago that N Korea were building submarines quicker than any other country. If they are not daft enough to kick something off then I think the Chinese will before very long. Tis a feked up world. |

| having a fully functioning nuclear weapon would bring North Korea to the 'top table' & the 'respect' that comes with it.

I'd rather they gained respect by negotiating a truce with South Korea. |

| and what gives the right of the USA to be the so called world policeman?
its ok for us to have them to obliterate you but not the other way around!
plenty of money to be made from tension, the hand of friendship would be a disaster for the regime. their power would be gone. what worries more more is what happened at fukishima will happen again & some nation of dumbasses instead of asking for help will shoot us all in the foot. |

The Cold War was a stalemate and it also kept the population in check through fear. It was win/win for the East and West and kept Communism going for decades and kept capitalism going too as the alternative to that was some evil, backward and un-democratic alternative. It created an us vs them situation where you were either a Commie or a 'free thinking shopper'. It served a purpose. This serves a purpose too. For the N Koreans, they can tell their people that they live in a utopia and the World are against them, on the flip side 'these people are being brainwashed and are forced to eat tree bark'. It again works both ways. I would be highly surprised if this escalated. N Korea haven't got the backing of China. China own a lot of the West and the US is the biggest Chinese debtor - you don't kill your debtors and you don't kill your creditors. The World needs people like Kim Mad Bastard II. The World being governments. |

Whilst happy to slag Call me Dave for most things I have to take issue with you on Trident, it is a very dangerous world and the only truly reliable deterrent is the mahoosive great stick that will come down upon you with absolute certainty if you mess with a nation that has sub based nukes, not of course that the PRK presents any kind of direct threat to us, but it is our real chip in the game, an insurance policy if you like. The other side of Trident, unlike a lot of other MoD procurement, is that the skills and a sizeable majority of the cash is retained in this country. |
