One of the greatest guitarists - a worryingly old-looking Ricard Thompson. This is a superb song and an amazing piece of guitar playing.
Last night I heard someone singing Richard Thompson's "Beeswing" in one of the village pubs. Look it up if you don't know it already. If you don't like it ..... tough.

A magical musician, Loved the early days with Fairport Convention, English folk music is terribly underrated and neglected.

I've never understood the 'critical love in' for Richard Thompson. Accomplished and all that..
But in the end --
Boring.

Babymetal - a completely batshit mental metal/Jap-pop band... I shouldn't like them but they're actually brilliant.

I saw him live at the Cropredy Festival one year & was very disappointed but sooooo much of his recorded stuff is outstanding. Try 'Beeswing'. "Vincent Black Lightning' is one of my (many many) favourites of all time. Try "Dimming of the Day", "Wall of Death" or even "Oops I did it again".
But different tastes are good....

Award winning Hanna Martin & Phillip Henry appearing at the Old Chapel on May 10th. Listen to them on Mark Radcliffe's show on Radio 2 next Wednesday. Two lovely people & one of the best acts we had last year. Phillip is a great dobro player & an astonishing harmonica-player Expecting 'sold out' notices to go up. This doesn't do them justice but ......

Anyone going to Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth next weekend? Prodigy, Iron Maiden and Metallica headliners. Following on from Download a couple of weeks ago, it's turning into a good summer!

I prefer a mellower scene these days however Maiden we're one of the first bands I saw in Plymouth up at the old top rank. Dickinson struck a chord me me when he said that Maiden wouldn't play Glasto because it was too "bourgeois". Lol, kind of ironic coming from a multi millionaire but he was quoted as saying that the Beeb can't be bothered to turn up to download or sonisphere in a camper with a handheld mike but send "thousands" to Glasto. He doesn't want to go anywhere that Paltrow stays in an air conditioned yurt! LMFAO. I remember the good old days of Glasto when anybody who was skint bunked in, people took some bits and bobs to sell so they could party now the clientele of Glasto average about £60k household income and upwards and it shows. Dickinsons quotes about the Beeb and Glasto are spot on, before it went mainstream (Dizzee and Justin Timberlake FFS!) there was a complete media blackout from the Beeb you wouldn't have known it was on, yet nowadays you could be forgiven for thinking it is a radio one event. Don't take it personally if you are a Glasto regular I'm sure that you have fun and hope you continue to however it has morphed into a middle class mainstream event which is a shame, none of the faces I knew from the past go now.

Glastonbury starts today which I am quite looking forward to although it's no longer a music festival, it's just an over commercialised pop gig these days.

Not seen any of today's performances yet but from what I saw yesterday I'd rate the Kaiser Chiefs a very average 4 out of 10 and the magnificent as usual Arcade Fire a 9.5 out of 10
