PostSubject: Jordan Cobb   Jordan Cobb EmptyThu Jan 03, 2013 8:31 pm

Just a post to highlight the valiant effort being made on a daily basis by the friends and family of Jordan Cobb who has been missing since New Years Eve. I have to say, it is fantastic that they are refusing to give up and continuing to organise searches in various parts of Plymouth's foreshore and SE Cornwall. These children (youngsters) are showing maturity beyond their years and are an absolute inspiration to us all. It must be horrendous for his family and I sincerely hope they are able to find Jordan very soon, where ever he may be.

Argyle might well be in a mess and other thngs may well be going on in all of our lives but this story is absolutely heartbreaking and certainly puts things into perspective.

Very sad. He's only about 16 isn't he?

What a start to the new year.

Yes it it is a very sad affair but what on earth made him think it was a good idea to jump off the ferry into extremely fast moving water.

I have grandchildren his age and I would be gutted if something similar happened

Yes a crazy thing to do but I guess we have all done crazy stuff at some point. Sadly he jumped "upstream" or so it seems. My lad and my niece are friends with him (attend same school) and the whole situation is horrendous

Me and my family were on the ferry about 2 hours before this happened, makes me feel quite I'll really. We saw the search the next day when in Cremyll and realised something had happened. He came from Horrabridge originally and friends of mine know the family, they are obviously distraught, let's hope the body gets found soon so that the family can at least start to have some closure on this terrible time for them.

Is the Tamar quite tidal, or will he just float out to sea?

We do daft things when we're young eh, it's very sad to see such a tragedy at such a young age.

It's very deep with some of the strongest currents of any river in the county. I would imagine that it may take a few days before any signs are found.

Alcohol....

Given that he was 16 years old, opens up a whole new can of worms

We were on the ferry at about 7.30 and the tide was real high and looked like a big one, Jordan jumped off the upstream side of the ferry at about 9.30 so the tide would have been belting out with a lot of water in the river from the recent rain, apparently he didn't even surface. We have all done stupid things, luckily they dont all end like this.

There's a Facebook page where a psychic has left a message saying where the body is, which is weird but some of the people leaving comments? These are supposed to be adults. Educated for years and yet they couldn't even spell their own name and talk in absolute gibberish. They might know what they mean but nobody else does, unless they're just as fick themselves.

I despair sometimes. Hope they find his body soon for the family but the family should distance themselves from these total spanners and let the authorities coordinate the search and ask for volunteers if they want help.

Very sad indeed. How fragile life is. We want the best for our kids and want our kids to remain safe, however we cannot live their lives. Thoughts to his parents, his family and his friends.

RS you are right, all we as parents can do is guide, advise & help our kids set an exmaple of decency and be a good subject (we are not citizens) but ultimately it is the child who decides the path they take...........

Ironically the body was found near one of the Torpoint Ferries.

Tragic waste of a young life. RIP.

Sad, I was hoping the rumors were true and that the lad had done a runner.

Glad to see the body has turned up, does no good for the lad of course but it will aid the mourning process for his family and friends.

As people have said before we most of us did stupid things when we were kids with little regard for any consequence of our actions, certainly with respect to any personal danger, at sixteen we were indestructible, at sixty we struggle to run a bath. RIP young man and let's hope his mistake serves as a warning that saves some hurt for another youngster.
