It wasn't a 'superb performance', but I thought we did ok. We settled in well from the start and aside from the first 10 minutes, we looked to have control of the match. Yorks best chance of the match fell on 11 minutes but the shot went just wide.
We started to come forward but poor decision making restricted us to long range efforts. Then, Cowan Hall rounded the York keeper after a shocking defensive error, with the goal gaping he manage to swipe at the ball and it bobbled wide. Not long after, Paris was again dangerous, he darting in to the box before the York player made a HORRIBLE challenge, a very high foot that looked like a kick to the face sending Paris down clutching his face, but the ref waved it away to the fury of our fans. 15 minutes later, and we should have had another, a cross came in and Purse was climbed on and bundled down, no penalty again, was it gonna be one of those days. That's when we got some luck, a cross came in, York unable to deal with it and bundled it in.
Second half was all us, attacked a lot but failed to really create much apart from Gurrieri forcing the York keeper in to a good save. Then, in the closing minutes, Young forced him in to another good save before chadwick followed up for the second.
York, something doesn't add up, their away form is excellent and their home form not woeful, they looked like a team bottom of the league, there was no creativity, no threat of scoring. Wasn't a lack of effort, just no class shown, they might as well have had a sack of potatoes in place of your strikers yesterday, the 188 away fans deserved more.
Decent win, time to build on it, although I doubt it will last. Mind you, last time we got a win for the first time in a while we went on to win our next 2, exeter next week
Gilmartin - 6 - Had little to do, didn't actually have to save a shot of note or catch a cross. Kicking needs work.
Nelson - 7 - very good performance, never liked him at RB but did well, defensively good and got forward also.
Purse - 7 - life in him yet, led the team well and held the line.
Blanchard - 6 - Not to bad but resorted to a little to much hoofing and mindless distribution.
Bhasera - 7 - calm assured performance both defensively and going forward, good from both full backs.
Young - 7 - usually criticise Luke but he certainly is better on the right wing than in the middle, never stopped working and offered just as much as Macca offered for us.
Hourihane - 6 - calm performance but not quite positive enough for my liking.
Mosesley - 8 - again, MOTM for me, knows what to do when he has the ball and works hard both in defence and he drives the team forward as well, very box to box.
PCH - 7 - taken off injured but another lively energetic performance from an ever improving player.
Gurrieri - 6 - looked lost at times but dazzled when he had the ball at his feet.
Griffiths - 6 - He only just rates above Chadwick for a starting 11 place, he seems to run away from the ball a lot, although he is good with his feet.
Chadwick - 6 - didn't have much to do but scored a poachers goal, credit.
Lowry - 6 - looked calm and assured in the time he had.
Lennox - 5 - not really on long enough.
