| I see that what on the public face of it was an initiative to add more support to the team has now turned into confiscating anti state banners and drowning out dissention with a Nikkk sponsored drum.
How quaint.
Football supporters have always had the right to protest against players, managers and directors. How sad that the current regime require these understandable displays of frustration to be stamped upon like some tin pot meaningless dictatorship. It's a shit league 2 football club FFS. |

I just oh so desperately hope he was being ironic!!!!!!!!!!!
and gg replied: "Probably Ian but I bet it was a bit wet ...." (gg seems to be a good bloke who gets a hard time on here - he's not as wet behind the ears as some people would like him to be, I believe.)
And the prize on that thread is awarded to pogleswoody:
"Has the drum got a fire safety certificate? has the dB output of the drum been measured in respect of possible damage to the hearing of those sitting next to it?
would the drum prevent people from leaving their seats safely in the event of a soaking wet banner spontaneously bursting into flames?
is the drumstick made of splinterproof sustainably grown timber? is it made of ASH??!!?? "

| The fire safety tosh must be complete bollocks surely?? How do the away team supporters flags and banners have certificates?
To me, that is just an excuse to hide behind completely unacceptable actions. |

| Of course it's bollocks. But the control freaks are desparate to silence dissent so they come up with shit like this. |

| Actually it's true. Only flags and banners with a fire saftey cert are allowed. If they don't pass they aren't allowed out.
Sad but true |

| And all attitudes and opinions are to have a safety certificate .. readily available from the club shop ... it really is the Soviet Union these days, and is all about message control, not safety.. we know that really. I don't get how people can actually put up with it at HP ... it's insulting, and all for a game of football. Basically they are saying you will be breaking the law if you dare protest.... and that is a fact that those of us who demonstrate about other things in this country on a regular basis, know all about... and is only set to get worse if people allow it. Of course overwhelming numbers involved renders their best laid plans totally ineffective, not that I would be recomending such an act of course . |

I would imagine so. Most of them that are ordere online have the certificate. It's just like the one you get on a sofa. Just a label. |

Sad but true Presumably each set of away fans is contacted in advance by the club, and told to bring proof that their banners are fire-safety compliant? Am I allowed to call this spin about banner removal a crock of shit? |
