I honestly don't think this would have happened 6 months ago, or 6 weeks ago. Can't even give away free pasty, pint and match tickets, the club should be very worried and be ready for a much reduced crowd on Saturday which will make the 8000k break even figure look even more ridiculous.

It was always going to run out of steam if the wrong people are making decisions, both on and off the pitch.

Fletcher and co. are blatantly hopeless and the Windsor Boys only appeal to blank eyed, nodding Avivas.

Never has a football club governance been so out of touch and so outclassed.

Mind you we couldn't really give away our lunch tickets on the sponsors lunch could we? Personally I only sponsored ATDs Robbie Williams because it was a laugh not because I actually wanted to go to a fanfest.

Many sport clubs of varying shades, and certainly the Argyle green room of old, often have many 'members' that don't bother much with the sport itself, as there are season ticket holders that get to only a few games in a season ... all sort of anomilies.,I'm surprised as many as 25% of our socialites don't bother with the sport itself. I find that hard to believe, although thinking a little more, perhaps not. Given your work, how much of the football do you get to see ?
My main point, since you asked , was the bar count is not often a good barometer of a club's prowess and health... turnstiles are where it's at ... and not the Ridsdalian method of counting either.
For the 22nd time, it's about time Argyle had some of the pre match bar take that went to the Britannia and other pubs, and the fanfest thing, any pub like facility, although not my cup of tea, was well overdue... the Far Post club never really met the demand. A pint and a pasty for £5 is a little cheaper than outside in the wilds of the city..... and so a 'club's ' prices should be cheaper ..... unlike the extortion practiced over the years under the Lyndy.

In tomorrow's brave new world, Mr Brent's vision was to enable the club to make substantial off-the-field profits. Who knows, in years to come we may see the Grandstand as the hub as a social club with a pitch attached to it.

Nothing like the old Elysian fields to get your pint buying juices flowing.... UK PLC 2012... back from the credit crunch, they couldn't keep us down, no flies on us, we're open for business, turning a penny where a penny can be turned.. we don't sleep.

If the new grandstand actually ever gets off the ground, then a proper Sports Bar, resplendent with big screens aplenty, has got to be in the plan.

I know it won't be the favoured way to go for the domino-playing Far Post types, but somebody needs to drag Argyle in to the modern age....
