Gives us a decent chance of progressing. I'd guess that clubs take it that bit more seriously, the closer they get to a Wembley trip - so it won't be easy, but it's winnable.

I'd hope Fletch will stick with the lads that got us past Aldershot - by all accounts a very good performance.

Can't complain about that draw really, a home tie against a struggling team. Having looked at the draw all the best teams seem to be in the Northern half!

Renegade, financially it is a mickey mouse cup and not worth the risk of injury but it would be great to win something, even this cup.

The JPT prize fund is: £5,000 (first round), £7,000 (second round), £10,000 (area quarter-final), £17,000 (area semi-final), £25,500 (area final), £40,000

Oxford United at home is certainly a winnable tie. I am sure they will bring a few down and the crowd should be slightly bigger than Vs Aldershot Town.

As someone else stated, the Northern Section has some big-ish teams left.

is it a more winnable cup than the league cup and fa cup? also does it get a you a trip to wembley? that will do for Argyle

Getting to the final is the key! Not only is it a day out at Wembley, but also worth it financially.

"The real money comes if you make the final and a decent crowd turns up
out of the two clubs involved. In the 2010 final between Southampton and
Carlisle, Cumberland News in Carlisle reported that, “Gate receipts,
prize money and merchandising took the club’s windfall from the
competition to above £500,000”. This is a large windfall for a Football
League club but with their being six matches to get there, it’s again a
gamble to try and make it to the final."

500K would be a nice "unbudgeted" windfall.

So, potentially 3 wins from Wembley? I hope we take it seriously. Also of course, this is a trophy that Manchester United, Chelsea etc will probably never win! Some biggish teams have won it though.

I heard that Southampton made over a £million in the competition ?.

I am sure that IF we got to the final one could at least see 25,000-30,000 [or more] making a day out of it. Plus the money the club would make from merchandising side of things etc.

The ideal final would have to be Argyle V Coventry City, now that would attract a decent Wembley crowd....
