MacDonald mulls permanent move

quote

Plymouth loanee Alex MacDonald admitted he would consider a permanent move to Home Park from Burnley.

The 22-year-old midfielder is currently enjoying his second loan spell with the Pilgrims and scored his first goal of the season against Southend on Saturday.

"I'm open to it, but it's not up to me, it's not my decision," the Scotland U21 international told BBC Radio Devon.

"If the time came and it was right for me and my family then it's definitely something I'd be interested in.

"I've always said that I like it down here. I like the fans and like working under the manager so I'm enjoying it.

"I'm playing every week again and there's nothing better than playing a game on a Saturday at three o'clock."

He's not rated at all at Burnley.

He's not exactly a David Norris signing, but he does alright in this league.

I think League 2 is about his level. He's not exactly set the world alight while he's been here - his performances have been solid and workmanlike rather than spectacular.

However, solid and workmanlike is a clear step up from some of the dross we've had to watch over the last couple of years, and that's why some fans seem to think he's a cut above what we've got. He wouldn't have made the bench under Luggy Mark 1. But, we have to cut our cloth accordingly, and until the owner sees fit to authorise spending on players good enough to get us out of this league, Macdonald is an example of the type of player we'll be signing. On the up side, he's made it clear he likes the area and wants to come here, and he's young enough to improve.

My guess is, he'll sign in January.

I think he will look a lot better with some other better players around him, he already looks better next to Madjo.

L2 is about right. I was not very impressed last season, although obviously better than the real youngsters thrown into adult football last season .. a bit of a runner and not much else.

The paint carries on drying up at Home Park... can't see it becoming a permanent spectator sport any time soon.

I'd go along with Andy and Penz's views on McDonald.

Yeah,League Two is his standard.

As madjo is out of favour at his club, maybe we can get him down on a permanent also.
