ARGYLE are borrowing much-travelled Aldershot striker Guy Madjo.

Guess Griffiths won't be fit for today

Madjo, 28, arrived at Home Park from Hampshire on Friday night to sign an emergency loan deal that allows him to play in Saturday’s Devon derby at Torquay.

The Cameroon-born Westcountry-based forward has joined the Pilgrims for a month, and is therefore eligible to play in Argyle’s next seven npower League 2 matches between September 8-October 6.

One of those matches, at Home Park on Saturday, September 15, is against Port Vale, for who Guy scored four goals in six matches on loan from Stevenage last season.

He later left the Hertfordshire outfit permanently to join the Shots and made 21 appearances for Dean Holdsworth’s side, scoring another eight goals.

Guy will wear the number 18 shirt while he is at Home Park.

Under-23 international Guy’s first English club was Petersfield Town of the Wessex League, from where he was picked up by Bristol City in August 2005.

After a handful of appearances for City, he moved into non-league with Forest Green Rovers, Stafford Rangers and Crawley Town before returning to the Football League with Shrewsbury Town in 2008.

After three goals in 15 games, Guy moved to Chinese League One side Guangdong Sunray Cave on a free transfer, scoring 10 goals in 18 matches.

The following season, he played for KS Bylis Ballsh in the Albanian Superliga before returning to England two years ago to sign for League One Stevenage.

He was an unused substitute when Aldershot beat Argyle 2-0 at Home Park on the opening day of this season, having played just a minute in the previous Westcountry encounter between the two sides last April which the Pilgrims won 1-0.

4 in 6 for Port Vale, 8 in 21 for Shots, 3 in 15 for Shrews....

Compared to The Democratic Republic of Chad and The Warren of Feen, he's fokkin Henry!

Aldershot fans not entirely enamoured with this decision;

May be a decent signing, time will tell-presume this means that Griffiths is not in contention after all.

Interesting and touching thread about Nicky Banger on there,as well.

Or any other day. The bloke is injury prone and not fit enough for professional football.

It's a gamble but with little to lose we just as well go for it.

Well he's got a better scoring record then the rest of our strikers, so it should be a step up! But it's just for a month so is our big man Griffiths more injured then Fletch is letting on? Or is this with a genuine view to a permanent signing and Chadwick is being released (please, please, please!).

What does he sing?

His scoring record is difficult to weigh up because the vast majority of his goals have come at non-league level or in leagues that would be difficult to assess the quality. Don't we already have Griffiths along those lines?

If it works great, but that leaves us with 2 non scoring forwards in Feeney and Chadwick, and two people who have scored well at a lower level, plus some youngsters.

I can see the logic behind Griffiths, but another risky signing? I just hope it works and that it isn't the last signing.

Positive? Borrowing a guy who can't get a game for Aldershot!!! One of the best supported clubs in the bottom 2 divisions and we are borrowing from f***ing Aldershot and signing players who are past it in the regional leagues?

55% of 6000 through the gates and we are signing our rivals cast-offs? Someone at Home Park is seriously screwing the Argyle fans!

Agree with Grovehill. It's a shocking state of affairs that we are reduced to loaning a 2nd string player from a L2 club which gets a fraction of the home gate we do. Brent is taking the piss out of us.

It's a very pertinent question. One that brent or his goons won't be answering anytime soon.

It's almost as bad as getting in a couple of trialists from French second division teams that no-one had heard of. Or signing a centre-forward from Newport County.

Well at least you understood my reference point, if not the actual point I was making - which is that if we write off a player because he's come from a supposedly 'lesser' club, then we'd never have signed Friio, Larrieu or Tynan. Liverpool would have never signed Aldridge. Or Keegan. Or Clemence. Do I need to go on?

The bloke's come from Aldershot on a month's loan, and Shots fans aren't happy about it, which suggests it's a reasonable bit of business. As do his goalscoring stats.

Who would you expect us to be signing?

18 months ago this club was a bigger financial basket-case than George Osbourne's Treasury. Ok, we have a new owner, but he's made it plain that he won't be throwing money at the carcass. And it's not even a case of living within our means; it's a case of finding players who are willing to come to Plymouth, put down roots (however transient) and play for a club that is still viewed as a bad risk. Whose fault is that? Fletcher's? No. Brent's? No. The blame for the last couple of years has to lay at the feet of Stapleton et al. And anyone who seriously expects that having a new owner means we have some sort of divine right to sign great players and embark on a cavalry-charge up the leagues is misguided at best, and punchdrunk at worst.
