| Turkey x2 Malia Ibiza x2 France x 3 USA Poland Holland
USA was the best, followed by Marmaris (Turkey) and Poland (a small town near Poznan and it was very cheap and hot in September) |

The first day I was there it was great until I watched a TV clip about the homeless kids in Las Vegas and the life they have, then to see one old lady putting dollar after dollar in a one arm bandit for a period of about 24 hours made me want to run from the place! The US is a remarkable country and I can't wait to return, but in some ways it's extremely third world. |

The US is a remarkable country and I can't wait to return, but in some ways it's extremely third world. That's pretty much how I saw it. I went there to accomplish one of those 'bucket list' events ($1000 on red at a Vegas roulette table - it won! I also rode a Harley down route 66) but I was advised about the areas to steer clear of. And the contrast between the glitz and glamour of the casinos and the poverty on the streets is unbelievable. I've travelled across the States (Post - Uni year out, innit) and the geography is remarkable, the Rockies are stunning, the desert around Vegas quite foreboding, and the Mississippi delta is just an astonishing area, but the levels of poverty, deprivation and crime in some areas of The World's Greatest Superpower defy belief, and reinforce my view that 'The American Dream' is more of a nightmare for many. |

Snap! I went with a mate for a few weeks, we done the whitewater rafting thing in the Grand Canyon, done the cowboy thing on a ranch and hired a couple of Harley's for 9 days touring around Arizona, Nevada and Utah. Fan-bloody-tastic time! Did you hire the Harley's from Eagle Rider? |

| France Belgium Austria Scotland (had a long-eared owl land about 10 yards from us and had the most wonderful view of a hen harrier ever, Pete!) Israel Wales (red kites when there were only about a dozen breeding pairs in UK) Kenya worked in Sudan & Israel.
I couldn't choose a favourite - each place was special in its own way. |

I couldn't choose a favourite - each place was special in its own way. That's how I see it Knecht. I've had summers on the beach at Mullins Bay, Barbados. Totally idylic. But I've also had Christmas's in a Log cabin in the Alps - equally idylic! I could probably narrow it down for a 'favourite beach'... ...in the UK - Sennen Cove, Cornwall in Europe - Cala Bassa, Ibiza worldwide - Mullins Bay, Barbados |

| Amongst many other things I've never done, I've never been on a beach holiday. I'd be bored rigid by the middle of the first day, and beaches are better in winter anyway.
Cities, though. Eh? Geneva, Copenhagen, Dublin, Gothenburg, Edinburgh, Bruges, Glasgow (yes - fantastic art and architecture there), Stockholm, Prague, Belfast ... London's ok in small doses, too.
I also did Highway 61 from Memphis to New Orleans a few years ago and experienced joy and heartbreak in equal measure. |

Never been to Scotland though, will do in the next few years, been close.Newcastle and Carlisle You feckin cowboy I was born in Jamaica, same hospital as Bob Marley, not at the same time obviously, I'm far too young, so there's my claim to fame out of the way Lived in Germany too, yep you guessed it Pa was a forces man, wish I had got to know him, I used to go to Spain, I particularly love Mallorca, then the Brits turned it into a little Britain in the sun, so I went to Greece, Kos & Crete, then the Brits turned that into a little Britain in the sun, then I chose to go to Turkey, and loved that too, but now the brits are turning that into a little Britain in the sun... and the first thing the chav's complain about... how expensive they have all become, course they have you chav, they have to import all that crap British food & drink you've got to have whilst you're 2000 miles from home An example - whilst last out in Turkey, the British tourist parts, full of British touristy pubs & dining places, food & drink was the same price as in Blighty, however, we got ourselves up into the mountains a couple of times away from those tourist traps, had a 3 course lunch for the equilivant of £1.80, food was so fresh, I had to catch my own trout, and the 3rd course had to pick my own cherry's from the tree to go with the ice cream 1. Olluz Deniz (The Blue Lagoon) Turkiye 2. Palma Mallorca 3. Beecraig Park Linlithgow Scotland 4. Scottish Highlands (Invernesshire) 5. Lynton & Lynmouth North Devon 6. Lapland met the big fella in red, food was awesome, if you stayed away from the British crap on offer 7. North Cornwall 8. Dorset 9. Crete 10. Edinburgh |

Worst Brits abroad experience: in a car-park in France and overhearing some British woman complaining seriously that the machine didn't take pound coins. |

Worst Leisure/Theme Park experience abroad: "Fabi-land - Tunisia's answer to Disneyland". Bizarrely, that's exactly how they marketed it. They had a 'rollercoaster', that was built from what looked (and felt) like poor quality grade scaffold poles, I kid you not. Never before have I so seriously feared for my life! Best Theme Park: Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Hurricane Harbour Water Park, just north of Los Angeles. "Awwwwwwwsome!" |
