| Look where winning the Carling Cup gets you It's a shame really. I always enjoy seeing the Scousers struggle |

| Not surprising. Brilliant player but has never done it for me as a manager.
The way he handled the Suarez business was piss poor too. I reckon Liverpool might go for Martinez of Wigan now, but it would be risky. I wonder if Carl Fletcher will delay his decision again now? |

| He did ok the first time around but it is normal to go tits up if you go back for a second stint. I don't really care about Liverpool and who manages them. I'm more interested in who will be our manager one way or the other and getting it done. Given my experience of Liverpool supporters on other websites previously I just smile at their plight now and move on. |

| Dalglish will not be too pleased, being sacked by the yanks......personally good-riddance to the man...too arrogant by half. |

That's a great shout, Jock. I reckon it matters not who goes there next though. Liverpool are destined to be also-rans for the foreseeable future... |

| Some Liverpool fans seem to want the return of Benitez- the feeling is that he built a strong squad pre-Gillet/ Hicks who f*cked things up. Unfinished business they claim - after Sturrock's and Daglish's disastrous second spell it might be better to avoid the Spaniard. |

| I really hope one of the up coming young English based managers get a crack at it. Someone like Martinez, Rogers, Lambert etc. I am fed up seeing foreigners given a crack before our best young talents. O'Neil, Moyes etc. deserved a crack at a top 6 club too in the past. Personally, I think Lambert could make a good go of it or Martinez. They would need the chance to build though and ship out the old brigade like Carragher. |

Me too, although I'm not sure how strong Martinez's Scouse accent is? The problem is everybody wants instant success and are afraid to give someone like Rogers or Lambert a go. Both of them like the game played with good football and have done wonders, but you would get the usual argument that they have never had big stars to handle. My argument would be not to have big stars in your team then! They don't half do badly with cheap signings and cast-offs. Moyes to me has been one of the best managers of the Premier League era. Never has a penny to spend, has to sell any half decent player he unearths and still delivers top 7 or 8 sides year on year. Not sure how much Liverpools squad cost compared to Evertons but it will be a fraction. I've thought for a while now that Moyes has been earmarked by Fergie for the United job when he finally retires, and United will ask his opinion before appointing someone. |

| Liverpool fans have always thought of Dalglish as one of their own. It's a feeling that's bound to grow even stronger now he's unemployed. |

| So Dalglish has been sacked. At least Downing has got one assist this season! |
