It doesn't have to be like watching Brazil or Barcelona, but not this crap with no imagination whatsoever and hardly any attacking intent.

I guess we will find out soon enough when Fletcher either signs up or buggers off, and we see which new players come in. If Walton and Wotton are going to be first choice again then I can't see much changing.

Even the most attractive teams to watch have to have the hard working, tough tackling players, but we seem to have a whole team of them.

But Walton and Wotton are both signed on for next year and with Connor Hourihane as well in midfield, its going to be very much like as you were......not my cup of tea.....

I wouldn't get too excited about next season. Although I'm loathed to say - I think it will be a case of starting where we left off, i.e struggle, huff, puff, poor tactical managerial decisions with the odd lucky win here and there.

I hope I'm wrong - but then again, I rarely am. rabbit

You can almost see them hoping for another season of struggle so they can hail "Argyle, the team that came back from the dead 3 times! Huzzah"

I think Rickler the obsessed and Tringreen the foreign correspondent miss the point but that isn't unusual. I have said several times now that I would love Argyle to play good football and get promoted. However, and this is the point, I just want Argyle to be promoted first and foremost. If it had to be ugly, and I would rather it wasn't, then I would take that if I had to. What we have is people demanding Argyle get promotion this season. Not hoping for it but demanding it. Now we have people demanding promotion and also demanding they do it like Barca. Given the seasons we have just endured, well most of us because some won't go or haven't gone to matches, you would think any kind of successful season would be most welcome wouldn't you.

I am not being argumentative for the sake of it either. I have a point of view and stick with it unless somebody comes up with a compelling reason to change my mind. I don't however resort to childish name calling and belittling as some seem to do. A criticism may I add that the very same people have with another site. It's not my fault if Tringreen talks through his ass most of the time and Rickler can't see past a conspiracy against him.

I thought you said you were going to ignore me?

Yet in a single post you mentioned myself and Tringy twice - I think its clear who is the 'obsessed' one here. When you say you are going to do something simple like ignore me, and can’t follow through for even a couple of posts... You have a problem.

At least by turning your attention on us, everyone else is spared your sanctimonious, pious, lectures on how boring we all are, and how ATD would be so much better if we all took your advice – well, I think someone else last week told you what they thought of your advice and it wasn’t pleasant.

Look... Everyone gets the point you are making about winning ugly. But it's a nonsense point. It's a worthless statement. Like saying you wouldn't mind two yellows and one red card every game as long as we won the league!

And who are these people demanding promotion? Let’s have some names!!!

What others are saying is you can have your cake and eat it too. Win by playing exciting football - but you are too drab to believe in that concept.

Several weeks ago... Despite several posters all telling you that every manager they had ever known at Argyle said how difficult it was to recruit players, you refused to accept it.

At least three of us have told you we can win promotion by playing attractive passing football.. As usual you haven’t addressed the concept.

Just like you haven’t addressed any of this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I will say...

Even the most arrogant can normally go a post or two before contradicting themselves...

I think you managed one sentence in your final paragraph from the quote at the top.

The one thing you are clearly not, is “sensible”!

PS. It's hardly a conspiracy 'theory' when it's proven someone is hacking into your email account, is it?

The fact of the matter is that the "star" players-Purse Chadwick and Wotton- are already over the hill and rapidly getting older.

The team needs an injection of youth (as well as quality)

If I remember correctly,we tried youth last season and it didn't quite work.

Darren Purse certainly didn't look over the hill....you can't beat experience.

Rickler you ARE a stuck fecking record as your thousand and one posts show quite clearly. You also can't read either it seems. I have said repeatedly that I would like Argyle to play good football and win. Look back up this thread it is there honestly. The only reserve I put on the good football is that they win but if they aren't then I will take ugly and they win. It ain't rocket science to understand surely.

I really don't give a monkeys how boring you and the other asshole think I am or sanctimonious or anything else for that matter. I'm a persistent boring sanctimonious barsteward who isn't going anywhere so guess you will have to put up with it.

I hope you haven't been sat by your keyboard all day waiting for a response from me. That's one step away from stalking. I'm ignoring the "I'm being harrassed by those nasty people on PASOTI" posts or anything by you that contains the words "Newell, Webb, PASOTI" That means I will read one post in a hundred I expect.

Come on boringbloke, who are ya ?

With your obvious, deep seated affection for the two of us, there must be 'history' ?

Don't worry, we won't ban you for 'coming out', or even calling me names.

Be a brave soldier.

If I read your questions correctly you seem to make an assumption that I have some sort of history either with yourselves or perhaps, given the amount of conspiracy theories around, perhaps with PASOTI, Webb, Newell or the like. Well sorry to disappoint none of the above apply. I have no idea who you or anyone is on here, I don't know anyone from PASOTI and have never met either of the other two named. I have never been a poster on PASOTI or a member of that site.

My problem with this site is the apparent obsession with most of the above and the fact that almost every thread gets turned into a bashing or dig session against one or the other or all three. The style of posting of some is almost identical to that complained about elsewhere. If you don't slag everything off Argyle wise in some way or another then you get branded with some silly name and that is patronising and dismissive of alternative opinions. Isn't that what PASOTI gets blamed for? It can't just be somebodies own opinion can it. I have said before that I understand there is history between certain factions and sites but that I haven't been involved in that an get fed up with constant references to it. In short I'm not interested in the war. But you can't avoid it can you given the amount of times it is brought up.

I was introduced to this site by Greenjock who was a poster on another site we both frequented. It was the old BBC606 but that closed and lots of posters who went to that site did not transfer to not606 which I also use. not606 is therefore small in terms of the number of posters and I was looking for somewhere else to air a view or two about all things Argyle. He suggested this one and having looked at it, I was more impressed than with PASOTI where clearly you only had to sing one tune or you were sidelined. Having said that this site is a little bit that way itself but at least you don't get banned. When I post something it is because I believe what I'm posting is the case and is genuinely my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree with it but I also don't expect to be called blinkered or an Aviva or put down as a "prappeeeerr Faan". I expect somebody to respond in a grown up manner with their own reasoned argument. You know how it goes, I make a point, you respond with your own, I come back with a response to that etc etc. or the other way around. That is the only agenda I have.

You've expressed yourself very eloquently SG and I hope we can all accept what you say and take it onboard. Greentints are more than welcome, blind faith irks a bit with me personally but I certainly don't put you in that category.

The bit in bold......

I tend to agree with you SG even though I am also guilty of it.

It's up to the users to change the direction of this site and you're doing a good job of that and as or if you are agreed with, the direction will change with that growth of agreement, or it won't.

Keep it up mate, it's all about diversity.

Anyway back to the point in question, I also would take a promotion playing ugly, could I bear to part with 3-4 hundred quid to watch it in real time? Not after this seasons dirge I couldn't. Also if you look at the football other teams were playing last season teams at the bottom were playing terrible"let's not lose" footy as we were. Also don't think that the better sides always played hoofball just because you witnessed us stopping them playing attractive football, the better teams in this division actually played some decent football and got promoted!

Shilts nearly men played the best football I've ever seen at Argyle. If they'd just played ugly a couple of times we would have creamed that league. I think a blend of passing football and defending like your life depends on it is the key to my happiness.
