| I've just thought of another one that really hacks me off - 'Solutions' In the context of Business Names; you know - "Office Computer Solutions" , "Home Delivery Solutions", "Car Repair Solutions". etc, Pointless, absolutely bloody pointless. |

I was going to say that, too, but you don't hear it too much down here, thank goodness. Has anybody said 'awesome' yet? It'll be well awesome if they haven't |

| Journey
As in "I've been on a real journey."
Or "let's take a look at your journey."
They haven't been on a journey they've been on a crap T.V. show and the public have decided to vote them off. |

| I agree with a lot of these, but there are a couple I take exception to.
Going forwards / moving forwards: In the correct context, what's wrong with that? I quite often find myself legitimately using that phrase. For example; part of my job involves analysing historical (financial/statistical) trends. If I notice something unusual in a set of data, then I advise customers what can be done to correct it. If they make the recommended change, from the point at which the change is made, going forwards the data will begin to look correct. However, historically, nothing will change ('cos you can't change the past). The use of "going forwards" indicates that the change will not have any retrospective effect on the old data.
Parameters: It's impossible to write a computer program or use mathematical/statistical models without using parameters.
The one that really gets me is; "the proof is in the pudding".
NO! The proof of the pudding is in the eating. In the pudding you may find raisins and sultanas. But you are unlikely to find any proof. |

| The word that really grips my shit but has now become so common it's widely used and accepted is PRIORITISE in place of "give priority to". Do we have to speak American as well as fight their wars. |

Nothing wrong with it at all in that context (and welcome, by the way). But it's also become one of those completely empty phrases that just use up words, used (by management and those who aspire to be like them) to make people sound more cleverer than what they are. Can't believe I haven't mentioned 'incentivise' yet. One of the worst. |
