| As you may or may not have seen, last thursday I was told I had a Hernia and I will need to to have an operation to remove it within the next 3 weeks, as apparently, it is fairly big. Though its not the worst possible outcome as I was concerned about having TC (testicular cancer) but that was ruled out. And instead I have a hernia and a hydrocele which was also be treated.
Was just wondering if anybody else had had this problem as Doc said its not common in the yonnger generations, did you go under local or general etc etc?
And thankyou to the 7 members of both pasoti and on here who have sent me messages on either twitter or facebook wishing me luck with the operation and a quick recovery to get back to playing sport. Really appreciated. |

| Had my operation 3 years ago. Went in at 7am and was allowed home with the Mrs at 3pm. They do put you under and it's sore when the anaesthetic wears off. You should take it easy for a few weeks, no shagging, but that won't affect you.
The bad news is you're not allowed to use your phone or any computer for 2 years.
Hope that helps. |

| Good luck with your op, just bear in mind that your lower ab muscules etc are generally taken for granted with many tasks you ask your body to do. Keep feeling your balls, it's not only older people who get TC. |

| Hello Cobi,
Good luck with your operation and I hope it is successful.
I personally haven't had a hernia operation, but my Dad and Father-in-law have (both in their 60s). As Jock says its quite a simple procedure, and they were both out of hospital within a few hours. Both were prescribed co-codamol for the first week (as the first day was quite painful), but both only took it for a day or so as the pain quickly goes.
I know of babies who have had it done, but can't remember anyone having it done when I was your age (about 20 years ago).
I know any operation can be worrying, but this is relatively simple so try not to lose any sleep.

| Good luck, Cobi.
I have my second ultra-sound scan on Friday. It's what you get if you're pregnant. If I ever get pregnant I shall know what to expect.
PS Why aren't you revising!? |
