Birmingham City have opened talks to sign Plymouth Argyle defender Dan Scarr, sources have told Football Insider.
Birmingham are in the market for a new centre-back this summer following their relegation to League One last season.
Scarr is out of contract at Home Park in the summer of 2025, so he is expected to be within the West Midlands club’s affordability range.
he 29-year-old is a proven, battle-hardened Championship defender after helping Plymouth secure their place in the second tier for another year last season.
Scarr previously signed for Birmingham seven years ago after making the move from non-league side Stourbridge.
The Worcestershire-born centre-back spent two seasons at St Andrew’s, but he only made one senior appearance for the club during that time.
After taking in a loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers, Scarr joined Walsall on a permanent deal in January 2019, where he featured 96 times over the next couple of seasons.
Plymouth signed the defender in the summer of 2021 and he’s since gone on to become a mainstay in their backline over the past three years.
Birmingham have now opened talks with Plymouth about re-signing Scarr as he heads into the final year of his contract at Home Park.
