Let’s hope the Championship season proper turns out to be more inspiring than that pre-season schedule.

In a word….dull.

A couple of non-league sides, and then 3 L2 sides. Not sure that's the greatest prep for a season in the Championship. Hoping they add at least one fixture against a bigger side.

have to agree, i know we have another game to be announced while we are in spain but those games are not going to test the squad the way it needs to be ready for the championship, imo each pre season game should be a step up in level of competition till we finish with a strongest possible club and we dont seem to believe in that in recent years. Swindon arent that level.

Is that it!??  I know it's very hard to get a Prem team pre-season as most seem to go abroad now, even the crap ones, but surely we could at least have got a good L1 team preferably away.

I am linterested in going to Swindon as that would be a good day out. Argyle should have a few up there for that one I'd say.

Around a week ago Swansea announced a friendly with Reading, who would surely be a far better test at some point throughout pre-season. Pretty sure the last time we had such an uninspiring pre-season friendly list was when we thrashed Saltash 9-0 and just managed to avoid non-league football.

I have posted this same question on another topic.....

Has anyone else heard the rumour that Argyle are playing a bounce game against Heart of Midlothian in Marbella?

Hi Grasier - is that an English Premier team or a Scottish Premier team you’re referring to?

I think it’s an English team but not 100% sure

I got that ever so slightly wrong!

The rumour popped up on a Hearts forum that Argyle & Hearts we’re in Spain at the same time and they’d heard a bounce game had been organised.

Yeah it’s officially been announced in the Edinburgh Evening News....
Hearts confirm pre-season plans including a training camp and friendly abroad
Preparations for summer are taking shape at Riccarton.

Barry Anderson
Hearts’ summer plans will include a pre-season training camp in the south of Spain and a friendly against Plymouth Argyle next month. The Riccarton first-team squad will travel to Marbella for a week to step up their preparations for the new campaign after confirming their management team last week.

They will spend seven days on the Costa Del Sol from Friday, June 30, to Friday, July 7. They will face the English Championship newcomers Plymouth on Thursday, July 6, in what will be their first official pre-season friendly.

Hearts travelled to southern Spain last year and the warm-weather training helped them prepare for European competition. They will again take part in the Europa Conference League come August when they enter the third qualifying round, and club management want the players in top shape.

The coaching team of Steven Naismith, Frankie McAvoy and Gordon Forrest was confirmed last week and they are now planning ahead to prepare Hearts for the new campaign. A number of new signings will arrive over the summer as they look to strengthen at centre-back, right-back, midfield and in attack.

More friendly games will also be announced in due course. As it stands, Hearts are due to take on the Scottish Championship newcomers Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park on Sunday, July 9, in a 3pm kick off. The new cinch Premiership season is scheduled to kick off on the weekend of August 5/6. The Tynecastle side will play their first European tie on Thursday, August 10.
