RIP Terry

Good band were the Specials, set the way for others like the Selecter and the Beat.

Sobering thought about your own mortality when you hear of people who were part of your childhood/youth shuffling off. I fecking hate the passing of time.

Gangters and Ghost town deffo a soundtrack to my yoof, Ghost Town came out when I was working down Union Street and it just summed up the decay encompassing the Thatcher years, too much fighting on the dance floor foreshore, sounds just as good today as it did back then, followed the Ska scene with Specials, The Beat and Selecta and loved their anti racist message, whatever happened to black and white yoof being allowed to exist together without loads of wedges being driven between us?
One of he best performances was Special AKA with (was it XXY they did tunes on slumdog millionaire) on later with Jools the high hat is just sublime, will see if I can find it on youtube.

Met Neville Staples when my mates from the Kingstons (good local Ska band) played with him at the Hub, he was a real gent. I remember him getting banned by Facebook because he had links to racists, turned out that it was Skinhead ska fans who were mates of his. Laughing
