| Job done by England-no doubt the stuff about easy group, crap opposition etc will be to the fore but Argentina, Belgium and Germany have slipped up against allegedly inferior teams, so maybe a bit of credit is due in that respect. England weren't defensive in any respect tonight, it was one way traffic essentially throughout the game and in the end Wales were ground down and couldn't compete with the extra quality-rather like an FA cup tie when the league one team or whatever can only hold out for so long against high class opposition. Not a particular fan of Southgate and hold him at least partially responsible for England failing to get to the world cup final and actually winning a trophy via the Euros but there has been a lot of nonsense talked about England in this campaign-group won and 9 goals scored, many other teams tottering on the brink in this tournament would give their high teeth for that record. |

| Yep job done convincingly in the end. I can see why Southgate gets the stick he does, he's got the best crop of players we have had in years and he is too cautious by far imo which is why we lost the Euro finals. |

| usa played well very unfortunate not to have had the 2nd goal count as the finish was sublime. They'll cause Netherlands problems but i dont see them turning them over. |

| England could have won by far more than 3 if they stepped it up sooner, The gulf in class between the two sides was stark. Rashford - what a player! |

| I've never rated Rashford but then I don't follow prem football and he's never really performed for England. He certainly looked different last night, a proper handful and the free kick was a beauty. Southgate needs to give a free hand to Saka and Sterling to play like Bellingham did, let them run it's what they do best. |

A tough test for Engerluund. Dozens of once thought as developing footballing nations, are now a force to be reckoned with. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned us over 2-0. |

I expect England to beat Senegal in a close-tight game then it will probably be France in QFs. That could be where England end their 2022 WC. Having said that, should they turn on the style against the French and win that, then it is game on and anything is possible. |

Spain V Germany later, now that will be interesting. I wasn't shocked about Belgium, De Bruyne, Hazard and a really old shit defence, how they were rated second in the world I'll never know. And they are getting ready to get on the plane home. |

He wasted a golden generation of talent from top to bottom at their disposal during his time with them he really should have won the euro's if anything. Thats what happens when you hire a medicore manager and expect him to be able to produce the goods. |

| dodgy japanese goal i have to say but thats VAR for you the finest or margins go against you when the naked eye would have said the ball was out.
its great to see the "lesser" nations starting to make their mark on world football during this world cup. |

| That was a controversial goal for Japan. They played well though, I will give them that. Two WC group stage exits for the Germans now, very poor indeed. The look on the faces of the players and fans alike last night was one of utter disbelief - and absolute joy to me German media focusing on how poor the Germans were this WC rather than that goal. Some soul searching for the German FA over the coming weeks and months no doubt, a change of manager perhaps ?. This WC so far has been a most bizarre one !! |

Having said that, Poland missed a fair few chances in the first half against the Frenchies-don't think they're unbeatable by any means. Get the second half done in this one first though. |
