The Club's Marketing, Business and Commercial Director, Andrew Clark, will be tackling the bike ride for Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Ahead of our opening fixture at Home Park on July 30, Marketing, Commercial and Business Director, Andrew Clark, will be taking on the 350-mile journey to the south coast in aid of Weston Park Cancer Charity.
The ride is the next instalment of Barnsley FC’s commitment to the ‘Together at every step’ partnership, which flourished during the last campaign and included the launch of a new transport service which provides people living with cancer in Barnsley with free travel to and from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for treatment.

Andrew spoke of his excitement (and nervousness) ahead of the ride:
"It's certainly a daunting challenge, but one I'm looking forward to. Last season I referenced taking part in a charitable event during our furthest away league journey... and here we are. I must say, the fixtures could have given me a little more preparation time!
"One in two of us will face cancer at some point in our lives. That’s a frightening statistic. I’m pleased that the Club’s positive relationship with Weston Park Cancer Charity is helping make a difference in our region and I'm delighted to be doing this for them. They are integral in our community and assist so many within our region and that will be the motivator for me during what I'm sure will be a physically and mentally testing week."
Darren Hayes, Head of Fundraising at Weston Park Cancer Charity, praised Andrew for his bravery in taking this on:
"Everyone at Weston Park Cancer Charity would like to thank Andrew for taking on this bike ride in aid of our fantastic charity.
"It certainly is a monumental prospect but one that I'm sure Barnsley fans will appreciate and will dig deep in their pockets to support. We have a great relationship with Barnsley FC and we are grateful for their support."
"We all wish him the best of luck and once again thank him for his efforts!"
In addition to this bike ride, Weston Park Cancer Charity will also have a bucket collection at our pre-season friendly at home to Sheffield United on July 23rd. If you are interested in volunteering for this collection, please email the charity for more details -
