The cold war relics like putin and his 'close circle' are all old men now. Change will come to russia if the west holds out against them. Stopping the import of oil and gas will be very difficult for the west but a killer blow to russia and is essential to lead to the cold war relics being dead and/or overthrown. USA which incredibly actually does import oil from russia will be the first to do this.

Trouble is with Putins reserves of cash that really is a long game and the only thing that will bring about real change in Russia is full scale revolution yet the Russkies have been there before and a very large part of their military and police are dedicating their energies to stopping it. We tried regime change many times in the sand pit the latest attempt was Afghanistan and after twenty years who is in charge over there? In fact Ukraine itself is a perfect example of how difficult it is to get rid of Russia as rulers, all done and dusted in 2014 yet here they are again.
Time to stop importing all russian oil and gas until putin is dead
not going to happen no matter how many times you post it like Argyle losing every game and destine for relegation.
Putin dies nothing will change as Russian's arent suddenly going to embrace western world much like Iraq hasnt when Saddam died or Afghanistan despite many years of trying they practically allowed the taliban back in commanded as they preferred them.

French leader Emmanuel Macron has spoken to Vlad the mad and the latter informed him the the whole of Ukraine will be under Russian rule eventually, one way or another.
The French leader told his counterpart that he was lying to himself in his attempts to justify the invasion and how the campaign was going to plan. Vlad the mad said war will only stop once certain criteria - the neutralisation and disarmament of Ukraine - is met from ongoing negotiations. If not, much worse military action will follow from the Russian tyrant.
I watched the Ukrainian leader give a conference on the news earlier and he looks absolutely shattered and drained. Perhaps it is time to get him and his family out of the country ?

I think you are wrong. Putin and his close circle of old men are from the cold war era and there isn't an endless conveyer belt of psychotic, paranoid, deranged geriatric ex KGB men waiting to take over each time a russian president dies. The old paranoid cold war relics are dying out. Some change will come once putin is dead and that won't be very long.

USSR was a completely different situation and a long time ago. Yes, putin and his band of geriatric ex KGB men don't want NATO on their door step but do not confuse russia with putin.
I always wondered how/if Russia would flourish if it was a democracy? Would it be up there with the US? Imagine that!

i often wonder if Germany didnt send Lenin back to russia during WW1 on a private train from Switzerland armed with millions in cash to be meet by Stalin what would have happened to the country then.

Luckily its only a training building and its all out now. Putin now talking about imposing martial law at home to quell any dissent, sounds like the Russkis aren't on his side. Just hope he doesn't get totally pushed over the edge. He disclosed this in a phone call to Macron.

Oh, how wonderful. More happy, uplifting news to wake up to.

Plenty of stories emerging regarding captured Ruskie troops. Many saying they had no idea they were going to war or to kill Ukrainian folk.

After the comments from Liz Truss that annoyed the Ruskies, US Sen. Lindsey Graham has joined in and called for the assassination of Vlad the mad from one of his inner circle. The Ruskies not pleased with that comment.
Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov telling reporters, "Unfortunately, in such an extremely tense atmosphere, there is a hysterical escalation of Russophobia. These days, not everyone manages to maintain sobriety, I would even say sanity, and many lose their mind."

im not believing a single word from either side anymore as both are using spin and its stinks of desperation and the bbc and sky are reporting each as facts without checking first.

It's best to keep an open mind. Never the old saying 'the first casualty of war is the truth' has been more appropriate. At the end of the day, both the Ruskies and the Ukrainians are masters of propaganda. What's his face, Zelenskyy has let his mask slip a few times. I'm watching that bazzerd.

Zelensky having a right old whinge because NATO will not implement a no-fly zone. We could do that but, it will start WWIII and probably nuclear strikes not long after.

Next armistice day we should all go and barrack all the suits, generals and hypocrites laying their wreaths with sombre faces, lest we forget my arse, Borneo, Vietnam, Iraq, Falklands, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan it just goes on and on. The ultimate hypocrisy is this war being the worst, it's not it's just on our doorstep so too close for comfort unlike a good old tear up in the holy lands.
